Even more than hearing Big Z, Sellers or Dix confirm, which would all be great news, I'm really intrigued by who this mysterious PF is that we're close to finalizing - is it the Serbian big man we had on campus in Feb. Aleksa D?, but he's a 7 footer and I wouldn't think of him as a PF, plus having three 7 ft big men from Europe on one team would be crazy. Is it Quaintance from ASU given OA's previous relationship which would be a huge get and I would think would not have gone under the radar or is it a less talked about portal guy?

My personal favorite of the under the radar portal PF's is this guy - came on really strong late in the year, stretch 4, but has a lot of toughness and is athletic enough to guard the perimeter and can rebound in traffic - his type of skill set would fit in perfectly

Good find, HH71. Looks like this player could be an asset to next season's Illini. He's maybe a little more "affordable" than some other players (for NIL purposes)? Do you think he's good enough to start at the PF position for the Illini? Or do you think he would be more of a front court backup?

Sarr doesn't seem like a ball heavy scoring SG. He's a 3 and D guy who can cut off ball and finish in transition. I don't think he's going to be someone like Will you put the ball in his hands and run PnR. He can totally exist in the same type of role as Tre but hopefully more effective.

That's how I was thinking about it as well

And as far as the money goes, I see no reason we would not have enough unless Will returns (hint: he's not)

Dix 2M number was from his agent so I think that's inflated

We have closer to 8M from what I've heard

I'm more interested in how the Ivisic bros will be used. Surely they want to play > 20 mins so there has to be some kind of plan for them to share the court some. Will be interested to see what that looks like. Michigan pulled it off fine, but I think Wolf's ballhandling ability helped it work.

He’s asking for too much …
How much (approximately) is Keyshawn Hall asking for? Oh well, too bad. His measurables and his stats are very good. Plus, he looks very good in his videos. I thought he could be a nice fit as a stretch-4 next season. He also looked like he could play the 2 or the 3. Positionless basketball?

I really want a serviceable 3rd big. I love TY, but I don’t want him guarding out of position all season.
I'm pretty sure that Ty will guard the other team's best offensive player, regardless of position, unless we get someone from the portal that is great on D, obviously.

He really figured out how to use his handles, quickness, and physicality as the year went on. I almost like him getting downhill more even if his shooting cokes back. He's so good at baiting fouls from defenders and getting to the line.
Getting to the line is great. You still have to make them.

IIRC he's our PG, right?
He was good at initiating O in the past, more like a point forward, then he'd mostly hang around the basket.
Unless his shot (especially 3's) are a LOT better, I would expect more of that, which is A-OK with me.

Ty 's rebounding ability was right up there with Rez, IMO. Might even be better now if he's added to his vertical.

Don't get me wrong...I'd love to add Sarr...

But to me, after watching him, he's more of a lottery ticket that if you hit...he could have major impact. But there is also a world where the offensive game is still developing and he'll need alot of time to adjust. He is not where Will was on the offensive side of the ball and I don't think he comes in just breaking dudes off the dribble at 16 points a game.

At the risk of sounding spicy...I love his body. 6'6", super long arms, extremely easy athlete, he just floats off the floor. He could be a straight menace on defense and in the passing lanes...but he's got a ways to go on offense.

His potential is sky high, but he'll come in pretty raw if we get him.
You make some great points about Dame Sarr. In particular, that he seems pretty raw... on offense. But I think he's exactly the type of long, athletic, quick twitch player that Illinois generally does not have. Unlike Auburn, Alabama, Baylor, etc. I think that the Illini NEED this type of player, if even for one year.
