If we get Big Z, Sellers, and Dix we should not target any more non-bench new comers. Pour all that cap money left into Riley.

A lineup of Bos, Dix, Riley, Ty/Sellres, Big Z/Ivisic and 1 or 2 more bench guys (idc if its just Davis and Ben; 8th and 9th guy who cares and you get continuity) is more than capable. And yes Ty can play the four.

Ty is too small to play the 4 and this lineup has NIT 9th place in the Big Ten written all over it. What makes you think Underwood is going to do a better job coaching a less talented team than he had last year. This Lineup is Charmin tissue soft. Who’s going to bang down low Big Z and Tomi 😂😂. Lineup looks like a Bad Iowa or Wisconsin team

Sarr and Riley will not be on the same roster. You can bet your beach house on it

Vs some big teams Ty can not guard a big 4. Purdue gets a 7fter and TKR for example or a team like that. I've seem enough of teams with 2 power player give us hell. Maybe we can add someone this year to guard big guys similar to Reese and queen. Watch the games Saturday. Those good teams have big strong 4s and we need someone to plug in for those situations that require a 2 bigger bodies. We just haven't had that lately.

Okay, so let's game this out.

Big Z: Out of all the guys we're linked to, this seems the most straightforward. Tomi, from every indication, has liked his time here. Z already has a relationship with OA. We simply can't let Tomi leave so we're gonna pony up just about whatever is necessary to lock down him and his brother. And from the indications the insiders have given, this feels highly likely.

Jaylin Sellers: A somewhat similar profile to Tre, who we moved on quickly last year in the portal. A bucket getter with a fair number of offensive tricks. You can see how the staff would sell him on Illinois. We're a top offense that will give guys a lot of leeway if they show they deserve it. We're a winner, so we are offering him a chance to go to the tournament. You can also see how we might overpay to get him. From the indications of our insiders, this one also feels likely and that makes sense.

Josh Dix: This is where things get a bit hairy. A lot of teams want him. I have no doubt we put in a strong bid and an extremely hard sell. This one will probably come down to money. We're the highest bidder till we aren't. Our insiders think we're in a good position, but it feels like multiple programs are thinking that. This has all the trappings of one that gets away. It's not because the insiders are wrong. It's just because circumstances changed and a team came in with a higher bid. As more time passes between his visit here and his announcement, the odds feel longer this one gets across the line. If we pull this off, I'll be really impressed. Though, I'll worry about how much we paid.

Dame Sarr: This one is extremely hairy. We got in on the ground floor and have KJ as proof of concept. I have no doubt we might have had a soft verbal a month or so ago. The insiders have been indicating that and it makes sense. The issue is the cat is out of the bag and circumstances are changing. The better he does in the Spanish League, the higher chance he tests the NBA waters or, frankly, becomes a bigger piece to Barcs plans and decides to stay for one more year. And then there's the fact that a whole lot more college teams are aware of him. Attacks are coming from multiple fronts. Even if the insiders continue to feel confident on this one, there's a good chance they don't have the whole picture here. How could they? There are so many moving parts. This feels like it's going to take a while to resolve and hopefully, we have a backup plan. Pulling this off now would feel like an incredible coup. Don't count on this one till there's an actual announcement.

Now, pulling off all four would be an impressive and, frankly, an unprecedentedly smooth portal season. This time of year never quite goes exactly as we plan at the beginning of the season, but, hey, there's a first time for everything.

Illini fans always the best case scenario. What happens if Sarr doesn’t come and Will goes to the NBA . What’s the plan? Everyone putting all their eggs in the Sarr and Will basket

No worries, we'll get them all. I have my lucky orange coffee cup and am wearing my even luckier Kofi jersey today, so we're good.

Good summary and I agree with your takes. I'll just add on Sarr, we likely won't have more of an in with an international player in a long time. Given his teammate and good friend just came to our program and became a projected lottery pick, what better sales pitch can you have than that. Even with Duke involved, it would raise questions on how Sarr will be used, they have the #1 recruiting class and will have at least 2-3 other kids who are trying to be lottery picks on that team. We won't have any other players trying to be lottery picks and we can put him in a position to succeed. We really need to take advantage of the year KJ had to attract international players and Sarr is the perfect one to do that with this coming season

1. F Yaxel Lendeborg

Transferring from: UAB

The scout
: Yaxel Lendeborg is the top dawg in the portal who is positioned to be a major needle-mover if the NBA doesn't come calling. Lendeborg is a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward who can pass, dribble, shoot and defend. Lendeborg can play the small-ball 5 or toggle to the 4 rather effortlessly, and he dominates with a mix of power and finesse. Lendeborg's 30-point, 20-rebound, eight-assist, zero-turnover, four-block, five-steal showing against East Carolina in the AAC Tournament was one of the single-best games anyone played this season. Lendeborg has an extra year of eligibility due to the JUCO ruling, and he can be a First Team, All-Conference selection in any league in America next year.

What about this kid Yaxel from UAB? Looks like stud PF we need in the tournament. We have 200 minutes on the court. Can we find 8 or 9 guys to share and make the bottom 2 be happy with there minutes of 10 or 15? Maybe less at times.

Sounds like he has interest form a veritable who's who of programs and is likely to test the NBA waters. Dude is going to get PAID regardless, and probably not by us, sadly.
