Said it a few days ago and I'll say it again... I'm in... Great "buy low" opportunity

If the price is what I’ve been told … Immediate take … Sign him today …

And it’s real simple … If he doesn’t wanna buy in, or just simply isn’t playing good … He can sit on the bench or quit the team …

But the upside is crazy …

Okay, so let's game this out.
Josh Dix: This is where things get a bit hairy. A lot of teams want him. I have no doubt we put in a strong bid and an extremely hard sell. This one will probably come down to money. We're the highest bidder till we aren't. Our insiders think we're in a good position, but it feels like multiple programs are thinking that. This has all the trappings of one that gets away. It's not because the insiders are wrong. It's just because circumstances changed and a team came in with a higher bid. As more time passes between his visit here and his announcement, the odds feel longer this one gets across the line. If we pull this off, I'll be really impressed. Though, I'll worry about how much we paid.

Wondering how much IU is spending on their roster this year.

Rumor circulating they offered $4M for Bidunga.

The offer to Bidunga is not $4 million …

DeVries brought in Adams because Adams father runs Indiana Elite … Where Bidunga played AAU … Bidunga needs to stay with Adidas …

That being said … The offer is 7 figures but it’s not $4 million …

I have to agree...

Look, he has obvious flaws...but he's an NBA athlete and can get down hill IN A HURRY. If we're running with 2 bigs at 7 feet who can shoot the 3....Storr would have lanes all day to get to the hoop. A guy who put up 16 a game in the big 10 who basically is in the portal with his tail between his legs.

Are we actually reaching out or is this more of an...idea?

Exactly, he was one of the best players in the B10 last time he was in it. He went off in the B10 tourney. I certainly would love to see what he could do in our system. Two athletic wings like Storr and Sarr could cut. get out and go. Tomi's passing to go with that would be nice. He'll Tomi was lobbing to Boz and he would to those guys too.

Low-cost flyer on a guy who desperately needs a bounce-back year? Why not? That's exactly the type of guy that's made GMs look smart for decades. If the cost is low enough, worst case scenario you bury the guy on the end of the bench.

A selfish, overrated player who clowned us last offseason, sucked at Kansas and is now quitting on them too, and is making Oliver Twist eyes at us for the home state bonus he turned his nose up at 12 months ago?

Give me a break. Creating obvious culture problems for no reason, with a skillset that's extremely fungible in the portal.
But the upside is crazy …
It really isn't.

A little retention analysis on where we currently stand below, as I know it's a hot topic right now considering the roster makeup of the FF. We have a bit of an astrick this year because of Ty Rodgers, and if you include Ty as retained minutes, we're looking at the most likely scenario being 43.2% minutes retained (which is about 10% above average)

The staff has been thinking over the Storr fit for months … I expect us to at minimum have conversations with him …

It’s free agency every year … And this is it for Storr … He knows he can’t F this up and has to raise his stock for the NBA …

Follow the TJ plan … That’s what his people are telling him …

I expect Arkansas to try and get involved here as well …

I don't mind Storr as a backup if we don't get Sarr. Obviously there's a lot of potential issues with fit and his confidence after a rough season, but you sell him on being the new TJ and you just unleash him in transition. High ceiling senior that can impact a game is always a take.

Okay, so let's game this out.

Big Z: Out of all the guys we're linked to, this seems the most straightforward. Tomi, from every indication, has liked his time here. Z already has a relationship with OA. We simply can't let Tomi leave so we're gonna pony up just about whatever is necessary to lock down him and his brother. And from the indications the insiders have given, this feels highly likely.

Jaylin Sellers: A somewhat similar profile to Tre, who we moved on quickly last year in the portal. A bucket getter with a fair number of offensive tricks. You can see how the staff would sell him on Illinois. We're a top offense that will give guys a lot of leeway if they show they deserve it. We're a winner, so we are offering him a chance to go to the tournament. You can also see how we might overpay to get him. From the indications of our insiders, this one also feels likely and that makes sense.

Dame Sarr: This one is extremely hairy. We got in on the ground floor and have KJ as proof of concept. I have no doubt we might have had a soft verbal a month or so ago. The insiders have been indicating that and it makes sense. The issue is the cat is out of the bag and circumstances are changing. The better he does in the Spanish League, the higher chance he tests the NBA waters or, frankly, becomes a bigger piece to Barcs plans and decides to stay for one more year. And then there's the fact that a whole lot more college teams are aware of him. Attacks are coming from multiple fronts. Even if the insiders continue to feel confident on this one, there's a good chance they don't have the whole picture here. How could they? There are so many moving parts. This feels like it's going to take a while to resolve and hopefully, we have a backup plan. Pulling this off now would feel like an incredible coup. Don't count on this one till there's an actual announcement.

Now, pulling off all four would be an impressive and, frankly, an unprecedentedly smooth portal season. This time of year never quite goes exactly as we plan at the beginning of the season, but, hey, there's a first time for everything.
Fantastic assessment! :shield:

This is why my view is that coaches may be getting less money in the future. Why would I pay 8-10 million per year for a coach when I can grab one for 2-4 and put the rest of the money on the floor? Interesting dilemma.

Insiders, Are the Illini in on Elyjah Freeman (Lincoln Memorial University - Div II) at all? IMO, this kid is going to be a stud. While we are at it, maybe poach their coach too? Also, any talk of Alvaro Folgueiras (Robert Morris)?
