Wagler and Lee are always listed on the top of these threads. I do not remember much about their recruitment and signing. Are they expected to contribute? I am guessing not since everyone's projected lineups leave them out.

He better learn to like playing low post because it's the only way he can be effective.

He was also a lot less efficient.

Tomi shot 42% from 3 the season before coming over, and 57% overall. Mirkovic 27% from 3. 38% overall. I'm just not that impressed by an inefficient 8.8 pts a game. Really hope there's either more to this guy that I'm not seeing or that this is not our plan A.

Didn't Luis get benched in the tournament because he was being selfish and not coachable? If Pitino doesn't want him, I don't want him.

May be an unpopular take but in business, I've seen companies recruit competitor staff to weaken their competition.
See Morez and Michigan
I think Michigan saw it as weakening us, as much or more as strengthening them. If you have deep pockets...

I've been a college hoops fan for >50 years. I had to re-learn something this March: a lucky team like Michigan having ample talent, that seems to have hit the wall and have little left, can right the ship and make a run.

What it did during the BTT and through the first weekend of the tourney was right impressive. That's the team that many people thought they had. I'm telling you, though, their fans were absolutely brutal toward Tre Donaldson and Wolf after the Illinois/MD/MSU stretch in early March. And Roddy Gayle, Jr.? Their affection for him made our base's attitude toward Ben seem like a hero's acclaim. Then he woke up and they got at least a bit of their value-for$$ out of him.

I guess I should have clarified - I don't think you have to start to contribute. Even when people have listed their 1 - 8 or 9 (I should have said rotation rather than lineup, I suppose) so as to include Davis they really haven't included them.

Oh I really like this Mirkovic. Classic power four. He also seems to be well built and strong. Won't get pushed around. The highlight reel I saw, he scored at all three levels and seemed comfortable in all.

It seems to me that the first group of players who announce for the portal are:

1. Looking for more money
2. Looking for a better fit for their skill set
3. Looking for a little more prestige by moving up to a higher division or
4. are disgruntled with their present situation and just want to move on.

There may be other reasons but the one thing most of them have in common is that they don't think they're going to be drafted into the NBA. In that first group there are some really good college players who could fit in very nicely with your team. However, if you don't hit on the very specific guys you want, (Josh Dix/Sellers), the smart move is to wait for the next few waves of players who are actually so good that the NBA is looking at them. I think patience is important at this time. Perhaps the staff feels the same way. JMHO
