Have you forgotten our original point guard from the elite 8 team? Ty Rodgers.
Ty was used in a bring the ball up and start the offense way of running point. We need another point gaurd that can run the offense and create for others as well as himself. Also good enough 3 point shot to keep the defense honest.

Cruising through the "way too early" 2025-2026 rankings and there are a handful. We got no love in any of them. That's a little depressing, though I know the roster is still coming together.

Is Big Z not considered a top transfer?

He reminds me of a less athletic Giorgi with a better jump shot… which is fine, but really doesn’t move the needle one bit imo. We need guards and scoring wings. Our bigs aren’t physical.
Euro guys are so hard to project based on watching highlights since they’re typically not star athletes. His production has been good which is more promising than the tape itself

I'll be real, his 3pt shooting motion doesn't make me confident- it's a slow draw and isn't fluid. I have my doubts it'll translate to a consistent shot in the B10 as the shot will be more rushed and especially once the legs tire with the pace and higher defensive effort. That said, I really like his post moves. He has a lot of tricks in his bag and has an incredibly surprising soft touch around the rim. Gut feel is he has some freshman year Giorgi games for us.

I like this pickup, but his fit with Big Z and Tomi is an interesting one. Lineups are going to be something else this year.
I get what you're saying that it looks a little awkward with his off hand/arm but the release actually seems incredibly smooth and repeatable. The video I saw showed him getting them off decently quick as a catch and shoot/pick and pop type guy.

I do kind of question the defensive limitations a bit playing next to Tomi and Z since I don't know if he has the foot speed to play on the perimeter but he is also probably the 8th man in the rotation so it's not like he will necessarily play heavy minutes and he looks strong enough to play minutes at the 5 of necessary.

I was mostly just joking but there was a huge conversation about not having a point guard only for Domask to be a monster playing point.

With 3 more additions left, I would have to think that at least one of them is guard that's capable of playing that secondary role and creating for themself or others.

My wishlist would be Jamir Watkins(if he enters), Sarr, and Storr/Grant-Foster. 3 plus athletes on the wing and Watkins could function as your go to guy down the stretch.

Ty is not a point guard, that team's offense was basically built around Shannon being a three level scorer and one man wrecking ball with unlimited energy with Domask booty balls to set up scoring/passing opportunities from a guard spot in the paint by backing up smaller guards, along with Coleman as a good stretch big and finisher. They didn't have a real point guard. Ty's best contribution on the offense was that he was an elite offensive rebounder.

I still don't think we should sell our two incoming freshmen short. I know this has become an older man's game, but we picked up two good players to help support. Who knows that one of them may become a starter.
Extremely unlikely either freshman contributes anything of significance next year.

Do you know what you are if you're not pooping?

I agree he's not a point guard but that was how they used him till they realized Domask was a better option.

I love the skill and finesse of the European players we are adding, but I would like to see us add a couple dawgs to this team. I don’t want to see a repeat year of Charmin soft basketball.

Really like getting Mirkovic; he is a legit shooter from distance, something Morez could never do in his wildest dreams. But as some posters have noted, there's a lot of other skills as well. Big and strong already; Fletch won't have much to worry about. Now let's hope his commitment resonates with Saar.

I still think having Riley back; now get Saar and we'll go to war with anybody.
