I like Mirkovic’s game. He’s obviously no Jokic but he has a Jokic like playing style.
I like thar his frame is a lot like TKR of Purdue and he has skill. He should be able to bang on bith ends and play booty ball too. I like his skill and look forward to see how much muscle he can add this off season. This is potentially the big I wanted to match up with those bigs like TKR and Maryland had.

Here are some more clips of Mirkovic that popped into my twitter feed. A lot more examples of him handling the ball in this, and it kind of looks like he’s got a one-foot turnaround jumper that he likes to go to a lot.

Not sure about the 42% from 3 claim, but this tape scored a lot higher on my eye test than some of the other stuff I’ve seen.
yeah with him and the Ivisic brothers, ours bigs will be capable of some really good passing/playmaking so we might see a strategy that is more centered around them initiating offense at times.

They are hoping to add a DGL replacement guard this week. Ian Jackson interest is real, competition is very strong. OA will give us a chance there. The next two adds are likely the depth guard along with the starting shooting guard, unless Sarr wants to commit early. They are still waiting on two guys to enter, one guy specifically. Keep an eye on the portal, you will probably know who they are when they enter.

So far happy with the retention and the additions but I am genuinely worried about how this team is going to get stops next year with this current roster lol.

The roster currently calls for a 3 level wing/guard scorer who also grades out as a ++ defender... Those are obviously tough to come by.

I have no doubt this team will score the basketball but how will they prevent it?

Also when will we see a defensive minded, seasoned assistant coach be added?
We desperately need multiple injections of athleticism on our roster. At some point you have to be able guard 1 on 1 in space, and you have to be able create and score 1 on 1 when a team like Kentucky, or Houston, or Florida uses their athletes to make you play 1 on 1.

Please tell me some of these guys bring high level athleticism to the table.

Is Mirkovic expected to the starting 4? I was assuming they'd still be trying going after another big. Somewhat close to a Morez replacement.

Any interest in Storr from the staff since he's got the smaller price tag? Any idea where he may end up?

What's the deal with Humrichous? Does Mirkovic's addition mean there's no room left for him?

I mentioned this is the Coaching Carousel, but figured I’d throw it in here for more traction. There’s been talk in the past of Mike Boynton joining the staff. Mike Boynton has a connection with Ian Jackson. Am I reading too much into this?

Is there some academic component to playing for SC Derby that is making their veteran pros eligible?

This is their logo, for reference

I ask largely because if this scales beyond this one program, we should just get all of our players from Europe until more competition flood in. Work smarter not harder.

One thing I find a little amusing about some posts on here regarding recruits/potential recruits is people love to run to that 3-pt percentage, and if it’s not high enough they disregard other aspects of his game. Mirkovic shot 27% from 3 in what I believe was his first year in s league populated by many players older than him. Yep, no way can he improve upon that. Even though that number was higher in other stops that are likely equivalent to high school for many here. And I see comments on other potential transfers like “he only shot 31% from 3” or 33% or whatever. Yes, 3-pt shooting is a skill we want, but let’s remember Marcus shot under 30% here and CoHawk under 30% for his first 3 years. And plenty of people wanted DGL back even though he’s shot 25% from 3 in his two years.

The 42% claim is only true for his play in the Monenegrin league. In the higher level ABA he shot 27% this season.

I like his other skills and am sure he'll be able to do a lot well. Seems to be a plus rebounder. Am a little skeptical the 3pt shooting will translate immediately.
Here’s his best records from past 2 seasons. He can score and rebound for sure. Will be a solid contributor and important piece once he adjusts to the new environment.

we need to get rid of this account on here. they know absolutely positively NOTHING. 100% equivalent to one of us just creating a X account and making it up ourselves.

Any more intel on Will Riley??
I wouldn't buy into anything Riley related until early June. He is mocked by many firmly in the first round. I'll be shocked if he makes any decisions without NBA feedback. Even if he is leaning toward staying, the pre-draft process can teach a kid a lot. The last day to withdraw is June 15th, so likely a bit of a wait.

Trilly said Ian's top four are St. John's (clubhouse leader), Illinois, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Just FYI. I'm guessing Pitino will be hard to beat in this one. I hope we hear about a new SG portal addition soon!

No, the club logo and name, and nickname ("the Students"), come from the founding of the club by university students. It has since morphed into a fully professional sports team. This is not uncommon in Europe. One of the big three Istanbul soccer teams in Turkey is named after an exclusive private high school, whose students founded the club.

Outside of signing Euros, should we be concerned about the staff’s ability to land big names in the portal? Aside from TSJ, who was headed to Michigan until admissions fell through, we really haven’t seen any major splashes come our way.

There’s a valid argument that last year’s portal additions were a net negative. And while we’re hearing the same “big names are coming” narrative again, we’ve yet to see proof that we can actually close on them.

We clearly have the resources to compete for top-tier talent. So, what’s going on behind the scenes that might be keeping these impact players from choosing Illinois?
