Isn't Nate Ament the player Duke wants over Sarr? Does that change any after last night, (Ament not good)?

Exactly, IMHO, we don't need him to be a 3 pt specialist. We need him to come in and play good defense, be able to drive and hit some open 3's to keep the defense honest and help space the floor.

If it’s Coward or Sarr at the SF as Indy suggests- then we would need a starting caliber SG still and would have the money for one

It could be the mystery guy that still hasn’t entered the portal that Lville has alluded to

I just hope they don't get left...holding the bag, per sè

If Duke really gets involved with Sarr, and the longer this drags on, the less and less I like our chances. Obviously anything can happen/recruiting is fluid etc...but it seems there are a good amount of eggs in that basket, and that's not even including the NBA draft options for him. I hated that info we were in on him came out so early and while he wasn't terrific at the Hoop Summit...he's gonna play in the league and has attracted enough attention to play where he wants, and it's still the wild west in the recruiting world.

I don't think Riley is coming back and have never thought he was...but it looks like they may at least hang on to that thought as well.

I understand having to wait...especially until the withdraw date for the draft, but they are super thin in the backcourt/wings with a few options that seem more of a longshot then previously thought.

I know they have alternate plans, but I would hate to see them miss on 3 or 4 top targets...but yet still have the money left, only to overpay for a guy just to plug the hole.

You can go to war at 18. He was disloyal and after spending four years of tearing his ACL and losing he wants to come back now that we're known for having money and missing on transfer targets.

I’m not worried about it. If we miss out on Sarr, we’ll have a large, unused bag to attract another high caliber player.

Shooting is a very deceiving stat. For example KJ was taking a lot more shots than Miller and handles the ball on top of that.

You also can't compare two guys who were assigned ball-handling to a guy who was not a ball-handler when it comes to number of turnovers, it's not a fair comparison. Rather the binary ball-handler vs not trusted with the ball is enough and Miller fails the test compared to the other two.

First off, your cherry picking skills are unmatched. You didn't pick Miller's PER from this past season, or his career PER, or even his PER from when he played for us. You picked his PER from his sophomore year at LSU. Last season Miller's PER was 12.0. The season before that was 12.1.

Also interesting choices for your PER comparison. If you make different choices you can see that PER and Miya often come to completely different conclusions about players.

PER had Jake Davis at 10.2 but Miya considers Davis to be twice the offensive player that Miller is. So big divergence between PER and Miya on that one. And the comparison you started this whole thing with was BH vs Miller, with BH having much better results under Miya. Thing is, BH has a worse PER (11.7) than Miller. Once again, big difference between Miya and PER, and no rational explanation for why.

I just don't think that Adam Miller is a PG, even a backup PG. I still think that the Illini need to add a good backup PG. Injuries, illness, and slumps happen. Going into next season with Kylan Boswell as our ONLY PG would not, imho, be a good situation. Here are the names and stats for some PGs still in the portal when I looked yesterday. Not sure if these players would be willing to come in as a backup PG, or if Illinois would be willing to pay enough to sign them, especially for a backup.

Barrington Hargress, UC Riverside, Sophomore, 6'0", 195 pounds, 20.2/2.3/4.0 and 44.4/32.9/73.3.
Nik Graves, Charlotte, Junior, 6'3", 195 pounds, 17.5/4.3/2.7 and 41.7/32.8/77.3.
Jestin Porter, Middle Tennessee State, Senior, 6'1", 180 pounds, 15.0/2.9/1.2 and 41.1/36.4/82.2.
Malachi Smith, Dayton, Senior, 6'0", 175 pounds, 10.4/2.9/5.3 and 42.4/38.3/71.7.
Samage Teel, Indiana State, 6'2", 185 pounds, 16.9/4.1/5.2 and 47.3/34.7/78.7.

I like that Graves and Teel a bit taller as PGs. They might be able to play alongside Boswell in the backcourt at times, in addition to being his backup. Smith (5.3), Teel (5.2), and Hargress (4.0) have the best assist numbers of the group. Smith (38.3%), Porter (36.4%), and Teel (34.7%) have the best 3-point shooting percentages of the group. But when I look at all of the stats, and the fact that he's coming from a mid-major school (Indiana State), I'm thinking that Samage Teel might be the best mix of affordability, role availability, and talent/skills that Illinois could add as a PG via the portal.

Yes… but would the staff view Miller as the starting SG? Not as confident as you that there would be the money for another piece better than Miller (but I feel that there has to be for any real contending ceiling to exist).

This is embarrassing for me I didn't mean to pick the wrong PER but for some reason theScore app has his correct season stats except for PER.

Kinda attitude......but can't back up....not the best fit........he bailed on Illinois and began the tour of colleges......not sure he would be a good team fit.

Has Illinois, or anyone on this board, ever expressed interest in Stanford 6'5" 185-pound Junior SG Oziyah Sellers as a possible transfer? (He's in the portal.) Sellers averaged 13.7/2.8/1.3 this past season, while shooting 45.1/40.1/89.7 for The Cardinal. ("Fear the Tree!) My guess is that Sellers might be asking for more dollars than Illinois thinks he's worth. And I'm thinking that the staff would probably be right on that.
