The offer will be more than generous for someone like Adam. Curious to see what happens here, if he goes elsewhere, they will find someone similar caliber for cheaper.
I really hope the offer is less than $1M if it's true that Bam came back for less than $1.3M. Miller shouldn't make anywhere NEAR what Boswell is making. It would send a really poor message to him. JMHO.

I imagine it's easier to shoot in the Big 12 where lots of teams don't play defense, and even easier to shoot when you're down double digits so the defense may or may not care quite as much if you hit a 3.
And your the 5th option on offense.

I just saw this on 247 Sports:

As of now, just 14 of the top 50 ranked transfers remain uncommitted.

On top of that, they list six Big Ten teams (not us) in their top 10 portal classes.

I know there is still one week left for players to enter the transfer portal, but we are not in good shape right now. Prices are going up and we still have BIG roster holes to fill.

Tick tock, tick tock.

I think it will be advantageous to wait out some of these guys. Some folks are overpaying right now, but look how many transfers haven't committed yet.

There's an absolutely boatload of guys out there.

If a coach can successfully identify prospects, assemble a team, negotiate contracts and do so within a budget he is essentially doing the job of an NBA general manager. I know they are paid well for their efforts but that is a lot to ask of anyone (in addition to the actual coaching, education and development of players just out of high school). Maybe we should give Brad a little breathing room?

This is the big time! If you want breathing room, open a scuba store!

Wait...I just checked my portal timeline card. I'm supposed to be in sit back and watch the show mode. Damn!

Everything will be ok!

On the optimistic side, BU and staff always do seem to pull things together and field, at minimum, a team that's a lock to make the tourney. So I think when the smoke clears the offseason will have produced a good team, and by September there will be people furious that somehow the AP has not ranked us at all, when we are clearly a top-ten talent in the nation (and of course we better deliver top-ten results or BU's seat is going to be warm, particularly when he has an assistant with questionable taste in athletic attire).

On the pessimistic side, I do kind of see similarities between this offseason and what I have seen go on with my beloved Cardinals baseball franchise, which steadfastly held onto a static payroll budget while payrolls around the league exploded. I don't know if that's the case, but if the going rate for Storr or Miller is in line with what we thought we were going to spend on a key starting spot, then I think we need to re-evaluate how much NIL it's going to take to compete and figure get increased NIL funds. And we need to do it quickly.

Average 3 point defense of Big 12 teams = .328
Average 3 point defense of B1G teams = .330

Really no difference

It should be noted he shot 10 whole percentage points higher than those numbers though
And you don't think it's relevant that most of these conference games were blowout losses? Cue the Chris Paul big 3 meme.

Illinois doesn't see Miller as a starter, were looking at him as maybe they get a 'hometown discount' for him to slot into the DGL/Harmon role and maybe compete for a starting role depending on who the other guy is

They want a big time shot maker at the 2 next to Sarr

Problem is the asking price keeps increasing across the board, for all players regardless of where they slot in... guys that were 750k two weeks ago are now 1M... donors will either need to bring more money or else we are going to end up with two role guys for the 2 remaining guards
All things considered I think it's good news that they wouldn't be settling and are hoping to get a big time scorer.

I would've been disappointed if the 8 man rotation was rounded out with Sarr, Miller, and Humrichous(i would have no issue with Ben being the ninth guy).

Personally, with the current roster construction id rather splurge on two big targets and go value bargain bin/value shopping for a depth guy than spend on someone like Miller and not have enough to get a true difference maker.

I think the current roster has a ton of guys that can play roles but is missing that guy that elevates the team from a top 25ish one to a true contender.

Quality over quantity (this is almost an exact representation of the 80/20 rule by the way). It's more likely the better players find their spots sooner rather than later, obviously doesn't apply to everyone, but that's the general rule. This already won't be true thanks to Zvonimir, but I'd hate to be the team that filled all of its transfer spots after the other top programs.

Yes, because he started at some small school that counts the same as a jr college
I think the question is how many years does he technically have left? If this was his COVID year then he could technically have 3 years of eligibility left.

The guy could get his doctorate here.

Extra impressive he shot that well with his team being so bad imo

I think its a moot point as other teams want him for a larger role and are willing to pay more

Miller isn't worth anywhere close to 1 million. Nor is half the other players supposedly getting a million. But whatever. It's not my money.

I mean LSU was a joke when he was there. Arizona State has been horrible the last 2 years too. He hasn't taken a high pressure shot in context in over 3 years. No thanks.

I believe someone made the point that rooting for Miller would be more enjoyable than rooting for last year's team, even if they weren't a better team. Hard to argue with reasoned arguments like that one!

Personally, if we aren't really trying to win, I would like to root for Sister Jean to run the point, I hope she has some eligibility left.
She does......

There are 15ish programs at 10 mil + right now and we are not one of them...yet

I been saying this and just getting absolutely lambasted for it lol

Lots of big time programs willing to pay out the nose for him... these upper-tier coaches might just know a thing or two that the average fan doesn't 🤷‍♂️

Here's an interesting number from last year's Division 1 transfer portal. 2035 players entered the transfer portal last year. 1595 of them eventually found a new home. That means 440 players transferred themselves right out of college basketball because no one wanted them.

The numbers are even worse in Division 2. Only 395 of the 1020 players who entered the transfer portal found new homes last year.

For some, the transfer portal is not all it's cracked up to be.
