The offer will be more than generous for someone like Adam. Curious to see what happens here, if he goes elsewhere, they will find someone similar caliber for cheaper.
Why wouldn't they just get that person now? ...cheaper is more better.

Thats because most coaches that stayed in their job didn’t lose 98% of the roster scoring. He’s part of the problem and the solution. That much we know for sure.

It's hard to forget 2 seasons ago when we didn't have a point guard. Hopefully we have a body that fits each position this time.

The recruiting last season was strong. The competitiveness, consistency and coaching wasn’t.

miller monsanto sarr/watkins is the 3 pieces I want.

Bos = Bos
T = T
Z < Rez
Sarr = KJ
? = Riley
Mirk = Tre

I guess you can say that players will get better but that's not a given. Kylan has regressed every year statistically since he came into the league at least in terms of offensive efficiency.

We still need someone that is going to be Riley's caliber or better in addition to Sarr for me to drink the kool-aid that were going to be better than last year.
With all due respect, KJ wasn't the same after his injury and struggled a decent amount the 2nd half so wouldn't shock me if we got more out of Sarr if we can land him assuming he stays healthy. Loved KJ but it was so hard to watch the turnovers in the second half of the season. Now that I know he was still injury plagued that makes sense that he's still a lottery pick, b/c he got his pocket picked or threw the ball away a lot. I don't see a Sarr being that turnover prone next year.
But Tomi was also sick for a chunk of games with mono and had to build his strength and stamina back as a freshman. That one is a big T>T a year older, second year in the states, second year at U of I, second year of chemistry with Bos, Jake, and Ty coming back to play with him.
Also I don't buy Z<Rez. Loved Rez but fouled a lot and didn't have an offensive game, which is understandable as a freshman, but Z has some good experience can shoot the three and clog the lane at 7'2". I'd say that's at least Z=Rez.
Mirk and Tre is too much of an unknown as Tre seemed to be a bit of a head case and we haven't seen Mirk yet, so I'm fine with that being a Mirk=Tre now.
I could also see Bos>Bos second year in the system, back home, returning players and his senior year.
I'm with you wanting another stud, but I think if we got two really solid role players that can shoot and/or play great defense and rebound I think we'll be just fine. Ty is a pretty big wildcard here too. I think we can D some teams up when Bos, Ty, and Z are on the court (maybe even Sarr). And if we landed Miller (I know this is unknown too), he played solid D as a freshman at Illinois. We will be very dynamic and I'd like to see us get back to playing great defense. We were pretty bad on D last year. But add a 7'2" guy and get Ty back and we're already that much better on D.
I'm not saying your projection is off by a lot, but seeing that a handful of these guys will have already played together, everyone is a year older, and we added a 7'2" guy to play with a 7'0" guy will automatically make us better. But would love to get Sarr and another stud.

If we are healthier last season I think we probably end up with at LEAST 2 more wins, which would’ve likely put us on the 4-5 line instead of a 6 seed… which is ~20th best team in the country. If we’re arguing whether this hypothetical roster is better than a team that was ~top 20 roster than we are in a solid spot. Riley & KJ both had peaks and valleys last year… think a kid like Sarr brings more consistency than those 2 just based on his athleticism. Took a lot of time for Will to learn how to play with the big boys. KJ was very sporadic, and never really blew by anyone… Let’s see how this plays out, but Sarr+2 veteran guard pieces on top of what we’ve got already is a very nice team.

Sarr
Kylan
Tomi
Ty
Big Z
Mirk
Davis
Vet guard
Vet guard

That’s a really good 9 man rotation.

miller and monsanto are perfect fits....

miller can guard 1-3 and shoot it and monsanto is similar to plummer.

I also thought that Adam Miller playing college basketball for 6 years was crazy. But it would only tie Tracy Abrams for the feat. Do we have any 7 year players?
I think Jalen Coleman-Lands is still playing in college... :)

I don’t like the idea that we have to wait until the end of May to see if one of our biggest possible players will commit but that’s just me. I’m also not paid millions to make these decisions or take these chances, I guess that’s just how it goes when you take a risk going for the big fish. I’m sure they have back up plan if Sarr doesn’t commit.

If Dame Sarr comes to Illinois, he will be the #1 pick in the ‘26 NBA Draft.
I’ll hand out receipts if you need them.

Edit: I should say “comes to college” but I’m gonna spin it my way. Orange and Blue.
If he's the #1 pick in the 26 draft he won't be coming to Illinois unless KJ made one hell of a sales pitch for us.
