Let me know if Nebraska football is ever what it was again. The landscape has changed countless times since the last time Illinois basketball was an elite power. Living in the past, and getting rid of a good coach to chase dreams of the past...

We ended up with Groce because donors and fans alike thought we could get someone better than Bruce Weber that season. We couldn't.

Who can we get that is better than Brad Underwood this offseason? Who can we get next season? I mean, being realistic, which I know has been, let's say, difficult for our fans in the past. Who? And what marginally better result are they going to come up with? Oh wow we made it to second weekend twice! OOH wow! But we had to be terrible for three years to get that. So is that worthwhile? I don't think it is. Can we just enjoy the success we have now and try to improve on it instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's been a whisper campaign against Illinois basketball for a while now. Makes it tough to gain traction with top recruits and transfers. Not impossible, but harder than it should be. Donor fatigue also a factor. The landscape isn't what many fans want it to be or have been told that it is by the sycophants. That's just the truth.
So who started it fears and Johnson

Can we hire the Bret Bielema of basketball?
I'm more excited about the future of football than basketball.
Got my season tickets. Should be fun.

I also want Sarr but I think there still are guys in the draft that may still pull out and transfer. I do worry these "salaries" are not coming down with all the money involved. Is 2.5 mil really too high an asking price when he is borderline first round this year and likely next year? When our own Coleman got 2? It doesn't seem it is to me ans that's just nits but it is where things are now.

So you think Underwood should have anticipated that Riley and KJ would be 1 year players and pivoted? If they both underperformed slightly more to the point where they weren't 1st rounders, we'd be looking at Underwood a lot differently right now and pretty optimistic about the upcoming year.

Everything’s fine … But …

1. Can’t even get Ian Jackson on campus yet somehow freaking Georgia can …

2. About to lose Sarr to an in conference school who cares WAY more about Football …

This Is Fine GIF

Dude, you, Indy and FL are light years apart in your feelings about things. They're painting a picture of doom and you feel like we're nailing down a "really good" team.

There's a lot riding on the outcome with relates to our insider's reputations!

I get it. I don't love the way we're missing out on guys either.

But are these recruits taking less money to go elsewhere? Or are we getting outbid? If we're getting outbid, the problem is resources, not coaching. Tell your booster friends to get serious.

That's the expectation for like 75% of Big Ten teams. In the last 5 years, 3 programs have won at least one Big Ten regular season title and at least one Big Ten Tournament. BU's Illini, Painter's Purdue, and Michigan with 2 different HCs (Juwan won a reg season title but no BTT, May vice versa).

So basically, other than possibly Matt Painter, no coach in the entire conference has been good enough.
You could go further than that. Painter has sucked in the NCAA tourney outside of the last few years. The BIG has not won a title in over 20 years and counting. Pathetic.

Compared to the !!!! show that was happening before he arrived, you’re not even criticizing him. Yall really want Weber or Groce back? The truly elite coaches aren’t coming here.
Disagree if we pay them they will come to this states top program.

We need an LvilleILL on-demand subscription service where we just get a calming message every time the board brings out the pitchforks
One of my law school friends once told me that whenever she gets really stressed out she remembers that we are all going to die one day and in relation to that, none of what is stressing you out in that moment matters at all. Not even a little bit.

Disturbing and calming at the same time.

There was a study done that showed women on dating apps rate like 85% of men as below average looking.

Some of you should think about that study and stop acting like Illinois is Duke and expecting to get Duke level recruits. Or you know, fire Underwood and believe that Illinois' Coach K is just around the corner for the next 5 hiring cycles.

This just made me think about dying without ever witnessing an ILL Natty and now I'm even more upset.
