"This guy is the top target and he's coming. Done deal".

"He is getting more interest now so its tougher, but we're still in good position".

"We didn't want him anyway and by the way he's a bad person".
This is the part of it I've always found absolutely appalling, especially when our own guys go elsewhere.

But I think we're seeing the mechanics of it more clearly today. The staff is gassing up the donors with happy-clappy info to open their wallets, and there is a price to pay when that hopeful speculation doesn't come true.

Everything’s fine … But …

1. Can’t even get Ian Jackson on campus yet somehow freaking Georgia can …

2. About to lose Sarr to an in conference school who cares WAY more about Football …

This Is Fine GIF

I’m not going to blame a donor one bit for looking at how the last 3 weeks have gone with recruits (especially Sarr) and not feel totally disheartened by the entire landscape of the sport.

What’s the point of throwing money around when you’re just gonna get beat by Oregon/BYU and do your money goes to above average players that work but aren’t exactly what Brad wants (not to say we are gonna get everyone he wants, but I’d rather get more Plan A guys than Plan C)
I think the point is so you don't get beat by Oregon/BYU.

If you're getting beat by Oregon/BYU, either lower your expectations or put in more money. This is a money game now. Sarr isn't going to BYU because he loves Utah and hates caffeine. If he goes there it's because they offered him more.

LOL. Why do fans buy it?
Because we want to. And more often than not, it's turned out just fine. Many of the things I've learned from insiders on this board actually happend. You can't possibly argue that Storr was a great guy after the year he had at Kansas. Seemed like Bill Self couldn't stand him which made me question if we should even go after him. Adam Miller, yes, because we know he's a good guy, even if some of his family members were problematic. Never heard anybody suggest anything else. Is he the second coming of Christ, no, but I would enjoy him coming back and hope it still happens. I still have faith that we'll put something good together, one way or another.

Does anyone know anything about Sophomore Combo Guard Nick Dorn from Elon? He's a 6'7" 200-pound CG that averaged 15.2/3.8/0.8 this past season on 37.4/35.1/80.5 shooting.

Are you hearing good news on any recruits?

I'm not sure what I'm not supposed to buy - aside from I was never under the impression that Sarr was a done deal, and haven't ever seen anything about not wanting him or that he's a bad person.

My impression is that we WERE in a good spot for Sarr until he blew up after his pro performances, it did indeed get tougher, and now it looks like we're not going to end up with him. That stinks, I did want him, but on to the next. Can you elaborate on what I'm not supposed to buy? Were we in fact never in a good spot with Sarr?

they had 2 mil PLUS sitting untouched for riley and 2 mil sitting for sarr.

explain how theres a money issue with now 4 million ready to go. thats 2 high level players or 1 stud and 2 role players.

excuses,excuses,excuses.... how much are they gonna pay ben??

I can see where it'd be hard for some people to take a deep breath when a certain insider seems intent on poisoning the well.

Ive always appreciated the info but the constant whining and dead horse beating of the same narratives gets tiresome.

Not directed at you(if that wasn't obvious)
OMG, I'm feeling exactly the same way. Indy wants Brad gone, and he wants him gone now. Along with BH and Hamer. I'm sick of all the childish nicknames and jokes about the tights and non-stop Brad-bashing.

Well, at least Watkins will fit in with the rest of the team in being bad 3-point shooters. Can't wait to watch us jack them up again and miss them again.

You'll hear that he wanted to come to Illinois but they ended up not taking him.

I do think the backup plan is pretty good, though. They should get a good wing.

I’m just so tired of this
Very understandable - maybe take some time away from following it all. I personally follow recruiting more than I used to BECAUSE there is so little time overall with the players now. With big changes each year, I prefer the additional time spent following this and watching as the roster comes together. But not everyone likes rollercoasters (y) 🤷‍♂️
