Go get Miller and Watkins with the current remaining pool, show the donors that you have a really good team now but could use another ≈$2M to be ELITE, then add Andrej as the final piece.

Kylan
Watkins/Andrej
Andrej/Watkins
Mirk
Tomi

Ty, Big Z, Ace, Ben H, Jake Davis, the 3 freshmen

That’s a championship caliber team

dame sarr is not worth 3million dollars.

I'll take jamir watkins whos playing his last year of college ball in his 5th year over a 1 and done.
Agreed - I was one of Sarr's most vocal supporters in saying he was much more college ready than he was being given credit for but Jamir Watkins would impact winning much more this year than Sarr ever would, so if Watkins is possible, that would be a home run pivot. Pair Watkins with a 3pt shooting SG (which there are still some out there) then we are back in business

Time will tell. I do think there is something to getting old and being good now. I feel Sarr and Will are going to have longer and more successful careers. Doesn't mean they are better college players

Going back to the ecomonics discussion from a few days ago, I wonder what the net economic effect of a bunch of presumably working-aged people sitting in a college basketball chatroom for an entire Wednesday afternoon is...

Season 3 Nbc GIF by Manifest
The average office worker works about 6 hours out of a 40 hour work week. What the hell else are we supposed to do with the rest of those 34 hours?

History repeats itself. It's probably actually been worse. We/they need to fight back.

Yeah I think even Henson was dealing with crazy CPL coaches way back in the day... no idea on Kruger, and Self probably wanted to play ball with those guys as much as allowed/he could, idk, Weber was clearly outcast from them pretty quickly, Groce obviously didn't get any of the Illinois AAU/influencer people back on our side, and now Underwood regime seems to have burned bridges with these same AAU programs

And we're concerned about Ben?? Lol

Do you have targets lined up better than or equal to the two that we probably won't land?

You and Louisville are extremely far apart on your prognostications, which is rare.

Have we shut down the men's basketball program yet?

Just give the funds to the rising women's basketball and football programs.

Not directed at you by any means…but this is such bs. Suddenly we’re just 100% out on Sarr? Partially because of us? Give me a break.

It sounds like this staff is totally scrambling right now. Thanks god Tomi has a twin brother who is also good at basketball.
I think it could easily be "partially because of us". You don't think it may be partially because of the staff not wanting to pay3 million? Don't hate or kill the messenger just because it's noy what we wanna hear. I can see why coaches get frustrated when we as fans do!

He is worth whatever the market says he is. And if we stick our noses up and tout how we've got the best value roster in the nation, that high priced talent is going to roll us.

At some point you have to bring home the bacon, no matter what it costs, or don't expect to compete for titles. If you want to avoid the massive payrolls, then you're going to have to retain your players and develop an actual program.
I don’t think any team can avoid the massive payrolls. It’s a market driven game now. People are making far more than we thought was a lot just 2 years ago. MSU lost a guy they thought was a Spartan through and through. Most teams are completely redoing their whole roster, even the best ones. 2000 plus entering the portal now from 350 teams. Lot of movement. Some teams might be able to keep players for one extra year, but I think it’s going to become less and less common.

Dedicate yourself to a side hustle that will one day blossom into a thriving multi-million-dollar business so that you can then in 20 years donate $1M to the basketball team and really sling around the hot takes in the recruiting boards. By that point, these conversations will be had in the metaverse, where the volume of your opinion is based directly on how much money you donated to the team.

I was joking of the portal result.

Which looks like it is a distinct possibility at this point after swinging and missing on their targets... ...

They aren't even getting visits ....

That's a B1G bottom feeder and non-tournament team if Miller and Humbrickhouse are starting

Yep, this isn't a rational market. We're dealing with 25 - 50 other programs with their own rich and desperate donors. Need our own version of "moneyball".

I don't get all this hate. We are not done. We likely are not getting Miller but regardless. We have 40 minutes of 7ft plus centers that can shoot, Boswell who was playing at an All B10 the last part of the season, a Nike Hoop Summit 4 who is big bodied, will.match up in the post better than anyone from last season if you saw him play the other night, and are in better shape than this time last season by a mile. I wish I could've seen some of you guys make it rain when you were Ballin! I swear we could sign some like a young Michael Jordan and some would be unhappy. It's still early. Guys are still in the draft process. I want guys too but damn.

Wait, is that what Pru's NLs stands for? I've been wondering for so long but didn't want to ask...

Yup, kid enters the portal because he isn't getting the $ he thinks he is worth from his current team. Some may achieve that, but many probably end up with around the same $ or less, and as we can tell by the numbers: tons of kids never find a landing spot after portaling. Then his original team fills his slot with a similar player for around the same price.

It's all just musical chairs.
