I am eagerly awaiting IL getting outbid for Stojaković, followed by comments stating IL never really wanted him and is moving on to recruiting a 19 year old from planet Melmac.

Not all nepo coaches are created equal. Some are more or less likeable, even though they are all liked by their Daddies.. There’s been some talk. Just sayin.

It’s absolutely crazy to me how many people continue to defend dudes that no other top 25 team would even think of hiring as Assistant Coaches …

Yes, but when you consider that no one on here knows any of the people being discussed....

FWIW - Watkins is asking for Sarr type money …

CBM - Bidding starts at $3.5 million …

Ace Wolf - I’m hearing it’s down to Baylor, Texas, Gonzaga and Illinois …
I don't think this is nearly as absurd considering the market. And honestly, he's a better option as well at this moment. We need to accept the market - you can do a whole lot worse right now than paying Watkins "Sarr type money".

Would something like this be interesting to folks here? I need to add some columns... probably need to add minutes played & class/eligibility... but eligibility remaining seemed to be difficult to get a definitive answer on for a lot of players

EDIT: Also, I threw this together quickly so corrections are encouraged
As a spreadsheet enthusiast I appreciate the work on this! Main thing is understanding your goal and the data you're trying to show. Are you trying to give an idea of returning production vs. incoming?

Not sure, to be honest... probably not even necessarily looking at compiled production for each team, because I think that returning production may not matter a whole lot if guys were getting 10mpg last year but are expected to play 30mpg this season, or production of transfers coming in from power conf teams vs from, say, low majors or even D2/3.

Was more just looking to track how the conferences teams are filling out their roster as a whole, and then being able to see the situation team-by-team.

Thanks for the reply! I'm not really a spreadsheet guy, myself, so I appreciate it!

Ace has a couple of offers on the table right now over 7 figures …
Thanks for responding. Do you think that a player like Kennard Davis Jr, a Soph SG from SIU, would "cost" as much as Adam Miller in the portal?

Comparing their stats side-by-side:
Miller will be a 6th-year Senior, 6'3", 190 pounds, 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 44.9% on FGs, 42.9% on 3-pointers, 75.6% on FTs.
Davis will be a Junior, 6'6", 215 pounds, 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 45.5% on FGs, 37.6% on 3-pointers, 76.3% on FTs.

If the two players above "cost" about the same (and Davis might possibly cost less than Miller), I just don't understand why Adam Miller would be the preferred transfer for Illinois. That would seem like an overpay for Miller, one based on nostalgia perhaps. Or maybe the Illini should just sign BOTH players! Before they wait (and miss) on Sarr, Watkins, and Stojakovic. Davis and Miller together could maybe be added to the Illini roster for approximately $2M total. That's probably not even the opening bid for one of Sarr, Watkins, or Stojakovic.

And then the Illini could use their extra (saved!) money to sign another player (or two) from the transfer portal. I've been suggesting a good, experienced Point Guard as an additional need for the Illini, one who could sub in behind Boswell, but also be capable of running the team if Boz is out with injury or illness. Samage Teel of Indiana State is a possibility, and Isaiah Swope of St. Louis University is another. Or perhaps Amaree Abram of Louisiana Tech or Jestin Porter of Middle Tennessee.
