If it’s me …

I’m not bringing Ben back …

I’m bringing in Andrej, Ace, Monsanto, and Nate Calmese …

I like the Calmese kid and Wake Forest bag ain’t tough to beat …

IMO - we need a proven point guard … Old … Veteran …

Brad will likely go about things differently …
For that additional vet guard role, one name I thought we could've been more involved is the Idaho State dude.

Monsanto > Ben for sure.

Folks realize Coward's stats last year were in 6 games against non-conference cupcakes (plus a bad performance against Iowa) and then he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, right?

He's not as good as Stojakovic.
In regards the Stojakovic, I’ll make the prediction that his shooting percentages increase regardless of where he plays next season. While he still may be “the guy” offensively, he won’t have to be quite “the guy” he was previously with more help around him.

With that said, I hope he ends up in Champaign.

Go Illini

Bronze at best, still limited.
I think Dain is great. Big men's value are going to be contingent upon what system you're running. We require ours to be able to shoot from the outside to keep spacing. Others like Houston like them to be bouncy rim protectors that can rim run and clean up misses bear the hoops. Some may like a guy like Dain that is one of the best low post scorers in college basketball. I also think he's improved as a defender that can't be over-powered.

Why can't I want both? Maybe not realistic but adding Stojakovic and Coward/Watkins makes you a national title contender imo.

Boswell
Stojakovic
Watkins/Coward
Ty
Tomi
Mirkovic
Zvonimir

That would arguably the best top 7 in the country. Add a cheap guard to round out the group and maybe Humrichous can come back if he wants.

I've seen comments saying we have 4 mil left and another saying it's more like 5.5. If it's 5.5 I'm locking down Stojakovic as soon as possible say it costs 2.5-3. Then going back to the donors and telling them to get me enough to get Watkins and lets go win a national championship.

Maybe guys are going for more money so I don't know if it's realistic but two big splashes makes this team a true contender imo.

Now this is true though - if we allegedly how 5.5M remaining, and the forefront names we're thinking of are Andrej and Miller.... they'll be pricey, but they (combined) can't possibly cost 5 million. Should have some left over for another quality get? Maybe saving for Will just in case?

Watkins is MUCH MUCH better than Coward.

I too would love to have more money than we have, but it is what it is.

In terms of allocation of that money though, locking down the best singular player is a much bigger ceiling-raiser than spreading it across multiple guys.

If we could blow everything we've got left and get a Watkins or Haggerty, papering it together with Brandon Lee and Jason Jakstys and perhaps a cheapo mid-major guy is a better option than, like Coward, Ace and Monsanto or something. That third guy isn't going to play.

A LOT riding on Kylan to be the point guard we saw the last 8 games all year...
But that isn't a misplaced expectation.

5 Star talent
3 years collegiate experience
Got better as the year went on/hard worker
Another year in the system/confidence/continuity
Showcasing for pro ball

Add someone who he can dish to and make 3’s and all the pieces are there for a stud senior season from him.

If you're speaking of on top of what we currently have (Bos, Tomi, Ty, etc), agreed. But if it's one guy and one guy only for a whole off-season... 1-2 guys don't make a team. Saw it with RU this year.

But even then - on top of what we currently have - I'm taking Stoj, Monsanto, Ace over solely Watkins. Haggerty's really the only of that kind there (and the only of that kind left in the portal IMO).
