I dont understand this whole "lock down Morez" narrative. He was freaking locked down, in like February to a new deal. He left because his dad found more money and probably soon to be broken promises from another program. He didnt like his role. Only so much you can do after that.
Did you mean he didn’t like his role or he didn’t like his roll?

Another clear-headed post by you. BUT, wasted on this lame attempt by another dim-witted poster (that I just unfollowed.)

I understand. The comment is by an apparently totally uninformed or just a troll baby poster.

The same handful of teams in on these high level guys

There's going to be a lot of teams then waiting in the weeds thinking they'll be getting "bargains" on later guys. It's simply not gonna happen this offseason. Market is dictating the portal. Not programs, much to their chagrin.

There's many many programs left with as much or more funds to throw around as the Illini. I think we'll wind up with a couple mid level guys after other programs outbid the Illini for the higher end portal guys.

I think we'll look back at this and wonder why we just didn't lock down Morez (nothing against Mirkovic). Morez is/was a high end in-state college player that was committed to the program for years and like that, poor gone. I think he'll unquestionably be an All B1G guy this season if Yaxel's not there as I expect.

That we're offering Adam Miller more than Morez is freaking insane. There's hundreds of better players in the portal than Adam Miller. Hundreds. No matter what spin one wants to put on it, he's been a replacement level player or below his entire college career.
Morez was "locked down." It didn't matter. Like the Duke kid that was "signed" to Duke, but now going to Miami (for now). Or the UConn recruit that was "signed" but now going elsewhere.
