Just pondering a hypothetical - if Yugoslavia were still a country, would our lineup be their Olympic team?
Benchwarmers at best.

Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Dario Saric, Nikola Vucevic, Jusuf Nurkic, you could go on and on and that's just current NBA guys.

Team Yugoslavia would probably beat Team USA

If you included players whose families fled the country during their civil war for elsewhere in Europe they'd rinse everybody at soccer too, or at least would have a few years ago.

Well fellow Illini, we are now officially on the cutting edge of Serbo-Croation athletic excellence. We can even shout out plays in Slavic languages like "Cut to the basket!" with our opponents having no idea what was said. What's next, is the Yugo making a comeback? I am excited to see where this trend takes us. We are running circles around other programs with our Eastern European pipeline.

Many Croatians speak Italian ... cut to the basket ... tagliare al cestino. Pick and roll ..
Raccogliere e rotolare. Mi piace la piazza e ho bisogno di una birra , ecc.

As an example, there was a rumor that the sticking point for AJ Storr last offseason was that he was demanding a spot on the women's basketball team for his girlfriend as part of his deal.
Did that happen at Kansas?

Thank you.

Embarrassing. Kind of desperate move you'd see someone like Groce/Weber make for a "feel good story" for a "local" college replacement level or below player.....that decided to leave Illinois....after being handed a starting role alongside 2 All Americans on a good team.....and produced marginal results while he was here......and has been marginal ever since leaving Illinois.

Adios Adam. Good luck. Go find the biggest bag in what will be the biggest payday of your life.

It's less than 10% of what the top NBA players are making annually.

These are easily justifiable numbers relative to the value these guys deliver.

The shocking thing was how little money players were getting under the table. The rumor was that a payment of $200k secured the commitment of Anthony Davis to Kentucky back in 2010 which is a preposterously low figure for the best player in the country.
There was a time when $80k and a Chevy Blazer could secure one of the top players in the country. /s

Not buying into the hype once again about incoming players, heard that bull before. The big question to me is will this team come together and play as a unit or will it be give them until January and they will make a deep run. Time will tell if this is just another show up on some days and just go through the motions others. Maybe the Illini could find a good defensive COACH in Serbia!

That is a very debatable opinion. There is a strong argument to be made that the front of the jersey is the value not the back. Comparable or better talent plays in the G League and there is no value. You could take out the top 100 players in college basketball and play the season and the fan and TV interest would be identical. The vast majority of college basketball viewership is to see the front of the jersey. Otherwise the G League would make comparable ratings to college basketball.

You would have to remove a number of current NBA players, including the best player on the planet.

Considering Serbia won the bronze in the Olympics, last year, (one call away from Gold), the answer is no, sir.

i dont like the title of "insider" but im happy to share some things you might be interested in those euro guys you are connected to. I have zero sources its just common knowledge over here. I get whole Soviet jokes but at this point they're kinda dated :D

For those wondering why Mega Superbet - just check who is the guy doing commercials for them
You’re outside of the US (presumably) and you’re inside Europe. That makes you more of a European “insider” than anyone here could reasonably hope. 😉😂

Seriously though… your insight here is much appreciated.

Had heard the name but knew the price tag was pretty big. Heard they got a bit of a discount because of the connection with the agent. In terms of a commitment though very surprised.
If my agent was allowing discounts for his buddies on my behalf I would be finding a new agent lol

Unless I’m misinterpreting what you mean
