So, what can the insiders tell us for certain? It would seem like this visit was not a closer, but rather the first bid in an auction of 7 or 8 with deep pockets that U of I cannot ultimately match at the end. If so, there was a distinct disadvantage in getting the first bid, or even hosting a negotiation. Seems like someone got played for a patsy...but sure hope not and valuable lessons were learned....ones that should have been foreseen. IMHO, AS will never be seen in an Illini uniform.

Just trying to offer some pragmatism to the Wild Wild West of College Transfer portal auctions. And that is why we can soon predict 10 and 20 million contracts that no one sees coming. There is no one stopping them all going to the highest bidder....and many kids of high character but less talent are going to be working at McDonald's instead of marching at graduation with a degree in hand and an enlightened mind.
I hope the staff learns that relationship building in this new world is overrated and at the end of the days its all about $$$$$$$$$$$.

All the time spent building relationships with Sarr and now Andrej... for what?

I'll say it again, very very confident that he commits to Illinois. Has it taken longer than thought with more bumps? Sure. But not much has changed at all overall.
Louis......

Eta? It was before he left yesterday, then it was noon today, then before the EOD today.....

It's also gone from you saying that this would be the biggest recruiting disaster in Illinois history if we didn't land him, to now you're still being confident, but there are things that still need to be ironed out.

Why do we have such an issue COMFORTABLY portalling? We're really bad at this. You guys are 97.5% right when it comes to other teams.

The fact that this has been called a "lock" with three pages of "booms" yesterday, yet we inherently know that our locks are still only 60/40....it's sad, but it's also humorous at this point. The board melts down at the drop of a hat because things go sideways with the VAST majority of our recruitments. There's always a crazy story on why we got drilled.

I feel bad for you and our other insiders because you speak what you hear, but when these "bumps" that turn into mountains occur.....you have to perform crowd control.

Your effort is appreciated!

No other visits are happening. Decision is coming soon. UNC Zaga and FL have tried to get in there but they are nowhere near Illinois right now. Read into that what you will.

This is Ian Jackson to St. John's 2.0. Like I said, I will eat crow if I'm wrong, but very confident in this one.
My best friend's dad is an insider for Florida Gators and he said his father told him that as of 2 hours ago Florida is in the lead for stojakovic

Serious question: How do you finish things up in this day and age? Illinois may tell his people we’ll give you your 3 million or whatever and then the agent takes that number to other interested schools and says can you beat that?

I don’t blame the agent one iota. That’s his job.
Unfortunately, it seems like the agents will never stop trying to find a better deal, even once the kid lands somewhere...

Ian Jackson took another week+, we could be in this for a while!

That is encouraging...but I have 70 years of experience as an Illini fan of being left at the altar more often than not.

Having grown up on the hardwoods of E. Central Illinois, like all who schooled in the state, I did an Illinois Notebook in 5th grade...and learned that the Land of Lincoln was also known as the "Sucker State". However, for the past 30+ years, I have lived in Missouri. So now "you gotta show me!"

But I do appreciate your input Lville. Just wondering if you ever knew Dan Rudisill, Bill Summers, or Greg Ritchie?

This recruitment is eerie similar to Eric Gordon's recruitment..When asked whether there are any other official campus visits planned, like EG, Andrej's camp formally denies the possibility reassuring all those concerned. ...And what happened then??

Its Eric Gordon Recruitment II Electric Boogaloo..

Absolutely wild how quickly and severely the power balance shifted to players. Something definitely needed to happen, but this is crazy. NCAA complete :poop: show.

I distinctly recall the time in our not-too-distant past when we had essentially no insider information on this site. First, just let me say that today's world is much more fun, and better for my blood pressure! I'm continually intrigued/impressed at how the leaks occur with 95+% accuracy. It's really a marvelous place in which to live. Thank you insiders for sharing what you know!

In this particular recruitment, however, I just can't comprehend how we might have such high confidence when the recruit is off-campus and free to talk with and negotiate with any/all schools pursuing him.

Cup is out......
