All of this negative spiraling reminds me of being a 16-year-old and thinking "my significant other hasn't answered their phone, they're definitely out cheating on me."

Go outside, go for a walk, pet a dog, it's Friday, have a beer (save the good whiskey for the announcement)

It's raining over here, my dog died in November, and I have no beer in my fridge (plus I'm at work).

You shake hands the deal supposed to be done then it isn't... You want to play this game then you set the price.... you got 24 hours to make the decision or I take my money elsewhere. Wolves get treated like wolves, whereas sheep like sheep. Give me 200k and 48hours , I'll get you whomever you want. You see all I got is my 🏀 🏈 and my word and I don't break them for anyone

If he wants to go play for Hubert Davis all variables being equal..... you show him the door and wish him the best.
Amen to that! Don't want anyone that doesn't want to be here. If that's the holdup-GOOD RIDDANCE!

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Thanks, Mom! LOL! I seriously don't get why people are so bothered by people sharing their opinions on a forum. It literally is the purpose.

Those of us who choose to follow the day to day portal recruiting cycle.

I've seen many nut-punch gifs over the years here following the ups and downs of Illinois recruiting.

Having seen this one for the first time just now, I am laughing uncontrollably at my desk and my coworkers must think something is the matter with me.

First time an agent speaks out of turn... Is when I choke the !!!! out of him!! That's the Chicago way that is the way our program stops getting treated like punks. You got let them know that's our money on the table and your gonna bleed for it.... It can either be orange and blue,or red you make the choice kid... But once your in you'll never truly be out!!!

Just going by common sense. If Stojakovic takes other visits after Illinois then I doubt he is coming. Not sure what the other plans are after that but I would hit the reclass market hard.

Riley was obviously a good find. And Fears had a great year too. Staff can clearly identify talent that can play at this level and we certainly need some

Not a fan of NIL esp at these multi-million-dollar levels. But it would be so satisfying for some of these 'bluebloods' ,who have been buying players under the table for decades, get big-footed by Brad when it's all legal.

It's an uneasy feeling because all of these Illinois transfer portal targets seem fully dependent on price. Transfer portal is here to stay, so need to look at the other side: How can the program create more player attachment to the program where it's not a yearly auction for player services?

There's not a magic elixir for everyone, but getting 4-5 guys annually that you know are willing to stick around because of buy-in to the staff, program, etc. could really throttle down the risk of having to re-recruit an entire roster and hope it gels.
Seems to me like we got 4 or 5 guys this year.

IDK, seems to me like we're have **some kind** of issue with recruiting US players nowadays for some reason.

When we lose out on players to other teams, its been told that we were right there but its due to us not matching the bag (fair!). But in this case when supposedly we are offering the biggest bag by far, AS might potentially be waiting to see if other teams can match our offer....implying that all other $$$ factors being the same he'd choose someplace else rather than U of I.

IDK, just lends credence to the rumors of their being an anti-Illini whisper campaign against our staff in US-based recruiting circles for whatever reason.

I just don't understand why deadlines are not given to make a decision and then move on to someone else. You are just enabling and just making the whole situation worse by allowing teams getting played against each other to get more money.

Just now popping in for the first time ---- with the Cubs in an apparent rain delay. I don't feel like reading 10 pages.

Did anyone close to the program (also known as our insiders) indicate what Brad and staff are hearing from his camp?
