For the sake of the sanity of this board, I hope Andrej commits today. Some of you will need to be institutionalized if this goes into the weekend.

@LvilleILL Just a quick question: Is the delay that we are presently experiencing the cause of the same delay that you were going to tell us about after the official signing (5 or so days ago) or is this something different?

UNC actually took on another transfer SG/wing this morning which may have an effect here with both their roster as well as available NIL $

B1G updates:

F Sam Alexis commits to Indiana
F/C Arrinten Page commits to Northwestern

Thanks for the daily updates. That UNC tidbit MAY turn out to be important.

I think its more the landscape of college ball today, why not wait and see if someone offers you way more. Like Indy said yesterday, Jackson to St John was done from day 1 but it took 2 weeks to be confirmed.
Personally, I don't think we've shown an inability to close this portal season. We were in on Dix and he chose to play close to home with his mom in poor health....I don't think anyone could compete with that weighing on his mind. Who else did we miss on that we were really gunning after?
Sarr, Sellers, Dix just this year. The story can be he wanted to play close to home but he came to campus and several close to the situation believed it was a done deal that he was an Illini. It seems to be somewhat of a recurring theme each offseason, and something that insiders have suggested to be an issue for donors.

I don’t say all this to start up a Brad hate campaign. I’m genuinely curious what the hold up could be if we have more to offer than anyone else.

Andrej on Thursday:

"As of now, I'm open. As of today I'm open, and just hearing people out."

Regarding visits: “That's something I really haven't discussed with my people yet. So there are no visits planned yet, but maybe. I'm open to it."
Need some context, who was he talking to. If he hasn't officially committed, why would he say anything different than what he did here. Saying he wasn't looking or listening would just give his commitment away

He was talking directly to a North Carolina reporter. To me his statement here made sense for the very least of keeping his options open. Doesnt really indicate he is that interested in other visits considering the same interview he said he didnt feel the need to visit UNC since he was there last year, but at least keeping the option open. Why say no to everything?

I thought the theory was Peja has lots of NBA $$ so he was much more focused on finding the best fit and not necessarily the biggest NIL bag?

The Stojakovic recruitment reminds me a bit of when official visits were limited. A dude would often know where he was going to go, but why not get your ego stroked by a few other schools, because you CAN? Wined, dined, then break a few hearts. Then go with where you knew you were going to go. Let's just hope the beloved is where his heart is.

Everyone, just take a deep breath and be patient. Watch some reruns of Matlock or Gilligan's Island and let things play out. Enjoy a Big Mac or whatever, but don't stress out about recruiting players, that is BU's job. Save your stress for when the season begins.

What’s the angle, then? He will be featured in offense, biggest bag, good education, I’m struggling to figure out why we can’t seem to close these recruitments down.
We members of Loyalty covet our degree from IL and hold it in high esteem…for guys like AS, it’s the size of the bag - the institution/education represents only <5% of their decision.

To that point, I am 100% taking a trip to the University of Hawaii even if I know where I am going.🤣🤣🤣

Except now the game is, I'll commit to you, you're my favorite.....unless someone wants to make me an offer I can't refuse. Anyone? Bidding starts at $3 m. I don't like them that much. Do I hear $3.2?

I think if more fans actually followed the offseason "recruiting" activities, many would be turned off from the game.

I think that's the key thing to me. If the kid says he's open, and the Illini coaching staff think they've got him locked up, I think it's far more likely for Andrej to be a much more credible source there.

That would hold true for almost every other recruit besides Andrej Stojakovic, who had dozens of HM offers out of HS and last year’s portal and still chose Stanford and Cal

Minor concern is the lack of connection to Illinois outside of the handful of vic's that will be playing for Illinois. Sit back and wait.

It’s been several days…he’s trolling for more money, perks, etc with this statement. He’s free to do that, but would advise him to be careful with your reputation and don’t insult your suitors or leave a mark you can’t erase.
