So I see it took seventeen posts for someone to start ripping on insiders. So longer than I thought.

There are way too many people whose lives are way too invested in where 18-22 year old dudes choose to go play college ball. My advice to them?
Stop It Michael Jordan GIF

I enjoy the insiders' posts and do not want people driving them away for less than intelligent reasons.

We need AS and soon! That would put a bright shiny nail in the recruiting needs!

I was in the camp that thought that Andrej & co would be less money-focused, but appears I was wrong on that.

Negotiations are still taking place, Illinois has been told he is coming as soon as the $ situation is finalized. His agents are still telling other schools that the recruitment is open (exactly as they should until negotiations are finalized though). However, as of right now, no other visits are scheduled.

It’s worth noting that the domestic agents as a whole are much more (searching for the right words here… but “difficult to deal with” should suffice). As an example, there are domestic agents shopping players they currently have no relationship with. This recently happened to Groce/Akron where he had players announce they were returning, but then were contacted by agents who had legit offers on the table for them prior to even having any sort of relationship or communication with the players themselves. Just went and shopped these kids to other schools, got some numbers, then cold-contacted the players saying “hey I can get you X deal with school Y, want to enter the portal and hire me as your agent?” I’m unsure how often this is happening, but it’s a thing….

There are rumors that he will take official visits to other schools.. If there is any truth to these rumors, all bets are off, and I think we will lose him

Still very confident. No more visits and an announcement could come at any time. FL and North Carolina have tried, but from their side of things I think they realize Illinois is well out in front. Never know until it's official, so folks being nervous is understandable.

Any chance we are involved with Filip Jovic? I believe he played with Petrovic and was also linked to Wisconsin a while back. If and when we sign Stojakovic(or someone similar) Jovic looks like he has the ability to slide into the 3/4 spot for us if we don't get a 2nd big name(or a 1st for that matter)

I'm typically pretty skeptical of claims to have "solid" inside information shared on a fan board, but for some reason I've got some confidence here. I can't imagine LvilleILL1, Indy, etc would put their reputation on the line with such repeated and definitive confidence on this one.
I believe we have really good insiders who have been pretty darn accurate over the years. They are only going by what they are hearing within the teams. In this new Wild Wild West show it’s anyone’s guess as money is involved. I trust that the info they get is solid bout as we seen in the past, someone drops a huge bag of money at the last minute that changes things. Let hope the cards fall in our favor when AS decides.

I think if we miss on Andrej (Don't think we will) Jovic plus one more could be the plan.

You gotta love amateur non profit college basketball!

This is actually worse than pro sports as there is no long term contracts.
Everyone on this board loves Illinois basketball, but I am thinking even we will begin to lose interest if the Coaching Staff has to go through this every year.

Can we please not drag the insiders, honestly, these kids are 18-23, they can literally change their mind at any moment. They have the power and the ability to get more money, let's not pretend we wouldn't do similar things if in their position. Thanks for the all the free inside info, much appreciated!

It’s frustrating any time things don’t get locked down during a visit, you have to think the confidence level drops when that happens. But on the other hand, if I’m a 20-year-old kid and two big universities want to wine and dine me for a couple days, I’m absolutely going to check them both out.

Look, kids can do whatever they want to do under this system, but it seems like a lot of them are getting really, really bad guidance. Every day that drags on without a commitment just ramps up expectations and sets up potential for falling very short of being worth all the drama involved for whichever team they ultimately choose. So, hopefully, guys that drag it out can deliver or they risk hearing it from the fans if they don't live up to what they themselves are setting up. Maybe I'm wrong, but just seems like that is a real possibility with some of these weird "recruitments."
