Yeah I as surprised how confident the UNC board is. They said we offered him $3mil(crazy Morez got half of that) and then after the visit his agent reached out to UNC, USC and Zoga to tell them his highest IL offer to see if they could counter.

Of course but I would think coming from a family that is worth $100 million dollars you might be more interested in fit then nickel and dimming for a $100k.

Putting my homer take aside - Illinois truly is a great fit for him in the style of offense they play and they it seems the family values the education based on past commitments.

I mean... if we do miss on him, we'll have all that cap-space left. Go all in on Claude or Watkins... I'd take either those two in an instant.

Would be pretty hilarious though considering this board like 3 days ago 😆🤦‍♀️. Didn't we have like 5 booms??

It seems the Illini seem to mostly lose contested recruitments. Discussions about the reasons, beyond money, need to happen, but are dismissed as overly negative.

IMO the 2 biggest needs this off season were getting a versatile scoring 2/3 type player and upgrading the assistants. Neither has happened, and I believe there is some connection between those two. A third unmet need was getting more athletic. Getting AS, if it even happens, solves one need.

Did UNC significantly beat $3M though? It seems the rumors are that we are still the highest offer, so while the agent did his job it would suggest the market price is what we offered him

As a Texan and Polish, Texas calls Kolbanesk, Kolache. Still delicious but incorrectly named. Also the dough is a more dinner roll and less pastry. I've recently changed my allegiance from Czech stop to Slovacek's in West. Champaign could use one for sure though.

Most of the posts in their Stojakovic threads have to do with crab cakes. So, again, similar to us but crab cakes rather than cottage cheese. Their Stojakovic thread also only has 2 pages of posts after several days LOL.

What UNC board are you looking at? The 247 Premium board has them way less confident than the Illinois side. They don’t know how it’s going other than they’re surprised he hasn’t announced for Illinois yet after he visited Champaign. I see almost zero confidence from them.

They’re talking about Italy and Portugal vacation spots right now and about how one of their deranged posters is DM’ing folks.

People need to acknowledge they report on the present. They are not fortune tellers as most seem to label it - their purpose is, through the good and bad, to keep us up to date on the present situation and circumstances. Recruiting is fluid, people here just don't know how to handle it.

He is quite a bit better than Morez. Morez is a very good rebounder who I wish we still had but has a otherwise limited game. Mirkovic has more of a rounded game and can bang more effectively than Rez. Rez can rebound like a mad man. Stojakovic has a much more expanded game and a lot more valuable than Rez.

If y'all really want the kid.... All we have to do is come up with another 2mil... Not hire another high level assistant coach.... Keep Hammer and hope that the rest of team likes playing with a guy that got double the money!! Hummer at the end of the year will still have a better 3 point percentage than AS. But we will be broke!!! Are we going all in or not

Well, glad my post inspired your ramble concerning everything any poster states on a message board that is intended for EXACTLY that purpose?

So if you believe my stating that (in my opinion this particular kid probably has less $ concerns than others), or that (and hint here - this was the intent of my entire post “IT IS HARD TO BE AN INSIDER” and that inspired you to change the entire context of my post then I guess that is fine?

As you stated, MY MAN pick on someone who actually does what you seem to imply I am doing? Weird post sorry don’t get your source of inspiration.
