I think Mirkovic is the banger. He’s 255. And Tomi’s brother is good at blocking shots. I’m way more concerned about perimeter. We lack foot speed at every position except Boswell.

With a tall long team that lacks quickness, a base zone or pack line would be ideal. My expectations go way up if I hear Brad implementing a zone and getting rid of the drop
Well, we might not be big, but we’re slow.

I'm moving back to Champaign and opening a burek stand outside of Ubben. A growth business.

I really don't like Bench HumBrickHouse. Am I the only one who is concerned that he will play 20 min per game and shoot like 33% 3pt?
We should all be concerned people are still talking this way about one of our own.

I am super pumped we are getting Ben back in what should be an excellent fit off the bench. Would not be surprised to see him get 15 minutes a game and welcome another year of development from him (and Kylan, and Tomi, and Jake, and Ty). I would be very surprised if all our returnees don't take a step forward next year, especially if they are placed into roles best fitting them.

There will definitely be times where we miss having a player like Morez on the roster. That said, we should be able to counter some of that lack of brute force with lots of length. Having Z help Tomi on the weak side will (hopefully) be a tough combo to score against. Unless of course Hamer finds a way to mess that up...
David Mirković can provide as much muscle as Morez

Best player in this game was Luka Bogavac for SC Derby. He scored 27 pts including 5-10 from 3. @Indy Illini Fan had briefly mentioned him earlier this month. He's a 41% shooter from 3 this year. Good size at 6'5". Any chance there?
Think there was some interest for Bogavac (not sure whether from Illinois or other school) but i think he sticks around in Europe. He would’ve also had limited time of eligibility same as Petrovic most likely. Kid has some swagger and likes big stage, can hit difficult shots and this was his breakout season. He might make a jump to bigger level in euro basketball but i think he will eventually find his place there.

Dude is thicc

Yes I am really interested to see how Mirk compares to Morez next year. Whenever he’s gone up against his own age cohort, Mirk looks to be about as dominant of a rebounder as Rez or close to it, but looks like he uses muscles/wedges people out more than athleticism. I do think Mirk is more polished offensively and has better feel and touch. I will be curious how he compares defensively. For as fabulous a help defender as Rez was, the dirty little secret is he wasn’t a great on ball defender and in fact, was pretty bad guarding in space. I suspect Mirk won’t be near the help defender Rez was but I’m wondering if he may be better overall. Guys who have the feel and intuition to be in the right place at the right time offensively can often do the same defensively. So maybe Mirk will never be a lockdown defense but he may wind up being assignment sound.

TL;DR: I think Mirk has the potential to be as good as Rez was last year overall, but maybe with different strengths.

Lets get him here and get him eligible.

LOL. After playing on a team ranked from 10-20 in Illinois with 3 future Div.1 players as a soph, by my senior year, at 6'2", I was the only player in the rotation over 6' tall. None of us would ever be described as fast, quick, or athletic....but we were all good students who had played together since 5th grade. My go to description of that team was that we could not beat anyone with our athleticism, but fooled them all because we were deceptively slow. Finished the season at 21-5 while going 3-0 against the two teams who played in the sectional final.

The sky is the limit for Morez as a college player but I'm done thinking about it
