So I have to pay 33% on that million I gave after all? Shoot, now I'm out 1.33 million and short $1,332,998.50
I mean, if you're going to calculate it that way then everything you buy that's not tax deductible is 1.33x more expensive than it's sticker cost.

Doesn't make sense to think of it that way because most things you spend money on are not going to be tax deductible. Tax deductible is not the default.

Thank goodness, I'm only out a million now...

I'd probably at least reach out to Ali Dibba (SIU), and maybe to TK Simpkins (Elon), and see if either is willing to transfer to Illinois for $200,000. If not, keep looking! Or just keep that scholarship open?

I like Boswell/Petrovic as PGs, Stojakovic/Davis as SFs, Mirkovic/Humrichous as PFs, and Tomi/Big Z as Centers. I'm just not thrilled about Rodgers, Boswell, Lee, and Wagler being our SGs. I think that Stojakovic could be our SG, but that would, in my opinion, leave us weak at the SF position. This is why I think we need to add one more player, probably a SG (or a SF?), even if that player is not a star, or maybe even a starter.
I know, I know... I'm replying to my own post. ☺️ Another player possibly worth checking on would be 6'4" Soph Guard AJ Brown from Ohio. He's been at Ohio for 3 years, but one was a RS-injury year, so he has 2 years of eligibility left.) Last season he averaged 13.2/3.2/1.1 while shooting 47.1%/38.8%/82.0%. Good shooting numbers. Two years left. Could come off the bench as part of the SG rotation.

1. I think there is a misconception that Andrej shoots a lot of 3's....around 48% of his shots were at the rim. The thought is having bigs that can shoot guys can't stunt off of them on dribble drives leaving the paint and the rim even more open
2. Because he's more than likely going to get 120% of the rookie scale.....which will be between 6-8 mil for 3 years to focus solely on basketball.
My apologies 0440, I see why you are saying what was said in part 1. I was more saying if Will came back, paired with Rej, and what has been returned and other newcomers, that I think we as a team would shoot a lot (probably more) threes than last year. While being better at it. I do realize that Rej is more of a get spots scorer and not a chucker/JJ Reddick type three point shooter who needs screens and ball movement to get open. I agree it seems like Rej's shot selection is a little overblown on this board, but truly was speaking to the full team if Will came back too. I know he won't.

2. Definitely makes sense, and maybe I am naive, but I would have stayed another year making relatively a lot of money no matter the actual amount. He just really seems to be that fringe immediate impact player with huge upside where it makes more sense for him to develop in the league, but I would've rather played another year. That part is a just me thing, what my actual point is that I don't think he's ready to contribute and won't be for several years.

Thanks for the response!

Indiana transfers-in include Lamar Wilkerson (Sam Houston State), Jasai Miles (North Florida), Tayton Conerway (Troy), Conor Enright (DePaul), Reed Bailey (Davidson), Tucker DeVries (West Virginia), Nick Dorn (Elon), and Josh Harris (North Florida). Not chopped liver, in my opinion. Indiana started with pretty much a blank slate for a roster following this past season. They needed players, bodies. Not necessarily big fish. The big fish approach last season, with Woodson as their HC, simply did NOT work. So, this year they have at least 8 incoming medium to high-medium fish transfers, with a better HC in DeVries. I think that approach will work much better for the Hoosiers... although I still hope that they fail miserably. 😅
Wilkerson, Bailey, DeVries are all 1A level gets. Will be one of the best big 3s in the B10.

Would be much more impressed with their roster than Michigan (who's been praised at nauseam) if they lose Yaxel.

No money for it. That ship sailed. Actually, it sailed about three months ago, but AS signing stamped it.
I can't find it, but Indy or one of the insiders mentioned they were tapped on money now and although virtually impossible, they want some reserved for if Will decides to come back. I don't think he will either. Would be pretty sweet if he did though? eh?

Had posted this before but this is where I'm at with the roster-

Petrovic (30 minutes), Ty (10 minutes)
Kylan (30 minutes), Lee (5 minutes), Ty (5 minutes)
Andrej (30 minutes), Ty (5 minutes), Davis (5 minutes)
Mirkovic (20 minutes), Zvonomir (10 minutes), Ben (10 minutes)
Tomislav (25 minutes), Zvonomir (10 minutes), Jakstys (5 minutes)

I have seen a lot of discussion regarding Ty Rodgers and how "he started on an Elite Eight team!" but when you look at the minutes they were never quite there in terms of what you expect from a starter. 17.5 MPG Year 1 and 22.7 MPG Year 2. In terms of starters he had highly variable usage and so penciling him at 20 MPG total and not starting seems logical to me given that he wasn't considered good enough for last year's team.

Any chance we're in on this kid? Big versatile wing, not the best shooter, but has multiple years and averaged 19 a game.

I don't think Jakstys is going to get 5 minutes a game.

No inside conformation, but have to imagine they have a plan in place for the possibility (even though it's unlikely). If they didn't - and told him he'd have to play for free if things did lead him to being back - he's probably in the transfer portal rn for the leverage.

not accurate.

yep, no logical program operates that way.

if he wants to come back, confident the staff and donors can have the sell. the problem is of course, him wanting to be back is fairly unlikely. and yes, our insiders have stated they have the donors to pony up at the utmost necessity.

When the coming season gets underway, I hope when we have our first game on national broadcast, BU starts all five of the Balkan imports... I suspect it would be a historic first for College BB, and generate a lot of media attention, leading to folks across the country to keep checking out the Illini to see how 'That team if 'Vic' guys is doing'. Don't have to have all of them out there together for long, just start them together.

I round things to 5 minutes. My thinking is if Redd and Kutcher could each get 2 MPG and Booth get 5 MPG on last year's team, Jason could find 3-5 MPG somewhere in there.
Booth only played 108 minutes. Roughly 3 a game. The average doesn't account for games he did not enter. Half of those minutes came in games against Eastern Illinois, SIUE, Maryland Eastern Shore, and Chicago State. The only B1G game he played double digits in was the disaster against Maryland when Tomi was out and Morez got in foul trouble immediately.

How often will we see a five-ic lineup on the floor this year?
Gotta be at least some, right?

Nickname ideas for these guys? Ic scratch? Jock ic? The Balkan Five? Balkan Mind Meld? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hope we're able to grab a cheap backcourt guy/wing. Cheap grad/senior/euro vet option

Think we're loaded in the front court with lvisics, Mirkovic, Rodgers (I see his best position the 4 though he's obviously going to have to see some wing minutes given roster build), Hum, Jakstys.

I love the Petrovic addition (don't need another PG as can stagger Pet/Bos). If injury occurs, they're putting a lot on Lee at the 2 guard in the current backcourt
