I think the key is how good is the 5 star kid. I’d take a one and done sure fire lottery pick any day. But outside of the top 10 or so, probably going to have some growing pains.
Coach has put together good teams but zero sure fire lottery picks. Has done well with assembling a roster of late first round/2nd round/overseas guys.

If I understand this, the 7-1 guy from China just visited Purdue and has an offer. Now he's headed to us for a visit this week and I'm sure he'll have an offer in hand. If he doesn't speak much English, he may have to put a lot of faith in his agent. Would love to get this guy and leave PU out in the cold.
Most young people in China have much better skills in both reading and writing English, but many also have very good English speaking skills as well... After living in China for over 11 years, I am fairly familiar with that... My extended family nieces and nephews (teenagers now) can all read and write, but admittedly are not great speakers - although I believe that part is mainly out of being shy and fearful of making a pronunciation mistake...

Illinois is estimated to have the 2nd highest revenue sharing total for basketball in the nation. (12th in Football)

I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are, but ... is anyone?

It looks like they just took the % of revenue each sport generates from the publically available data - Illinois does generate a larger % of it's total athletic budget from basketball vs. football than most schools, so that is likely how they came to that conclusion - basketball ticket sale revenue was actually higher than football for example a couple of years ago.

But, that doesn't mean that is how Josh will decide to use the $20.5M revenue sharing, each school can do that any way they want to, so he doesn't have to do it as a portion of revenue.
20.5 million to football.

Basketball revenue sharing? Recruit like you are Bill Self and it's the early 2000s.

Really hoping something will pop soon. The list of guys we're involved with just keeps getting longer.

The test could have revealed a lot of things. For example it might have shown him to be amenable to large amazon purchases.
yep , that might have been the deal closer......lol...

I still remember those Sears & Roebuck and Speigil (sp) catalog arguments........I really really do..................

I'm not sure you were 'crucified' but it was definitely pointed out that every high major team takes on 3 stars

Missouri has quite a few themselves, you're just comparing a couple of recruits in a vacuum, which doesn't tell us anything

I also tend to care more about actual results.. Gates is 55-46 in 3 seasons at Missouri with zero 2nd weekends (1-2 NCAA record vs powerhouses Utah State, Princeton and Drake)
I don't worry about Gates but I want us to pick up 5 stars in Summer like him. We will find out soon if Mizzou will be more like Rutgers or Duke last year.

We tried the whole 5 star freshman thing last year too, far far greater chance it’ll be more like us or Rutgers unless one of them is a Cooper Flagg level guy (which is extremely doubtful)

I just don’t think one and done players are the blueprint to winning college basketball games

Both Rutgers guys were WAY better than our guys. The rest of the team sucked
