This kid originally committed to UK 8 years ago and he wants another 3 years of eligibility........

Keep scanning that luggage Kahlil, maybe you should've chosen Illinois the first time instead of listening to Nick and co :ROFLMAO:

Please tell me we are "full-court press" recruiting this young man! Love when we can keep Mr. Basketball at home. Bonus points for me on being an Illinois legacy.

I'm hesitant that we may not be pressing here because he doesn't necessarily fit the positional size/shooting box. But the kid can flat out play. If we don't... he'll be donning maize and blue/green and white and tearing us up for 4 years.

Lastly before someone says it... obviously, we are recruiting him if he is visiting...but that doesn't necessarily equate to pushing for an imminent commitment.

Seems B.U. has been recruiting guard heavy with a couple wings. Team is gonna lose T. Invisic and Jakstys is an unknown proven player. I haven't seen much talk about some bigs coming in or any possible names. That leaves only Big Z for next year??

I repeat he is not coming to Illinois. Illinois hasn't been recruiting him hard. He will end up at the BIG10.

Yep agreed. If you’re a stud guard or wing that likes to score, we’ve shown over the past 2 years you can come in and basically be allowed the freedom to operate and score as long as you aren’t stupid, careless w the ball and can move your legs in defense.

I've heard from some folks in the HS hoops scene around the area the parents/family don't like Brad or that there is some level of friction there. Any truth to that?

This is the challenge, the more we dial in a specific style of play that we want to maintain going forward, the more that means certain players might not fit.

Should we, with the benefit of hindsight, just not bothered to recruit Morez Johnson in the first place? Would allocating that effort elsewhere have left us better off? That's a difficult question to answer.

This is what gives me confidence in BU. He's had top 10 efficiency offenses running (at least) 3 distinctly different styles of basketball.

Have we dialed in a specific style of play? Seems like we do things a little differently every year.

Get good/great players and figure out how to make it work. It's always been more about the Jim's and Joe's than the X's and O's. Ask Bruce Weber. LOL

Our coaching staff can still commit to it's principles of shots in the paint and at the arc, offensive rebounding, hustle, and daily improvement no matter the size of the kid. All other things being equal, sure, take the tall guy... but in no world should the height of the player be the singular reason you don't pursue him.

That said, if we can keep our front court at Illinois next year, every lead guard in the country should have interest. Those guys put so much stress on a defense... The PG is going to have ample opportunities to shine.

The flexibility is also why they are so successful game to game. The base philosophies are the same, high quality shots at the rim or from three, matchup hunting, attack the glass. The ways they can go about doing it are so varied depending on what the defense does, it's pretty amazing.
