In the above video, I like that Mirk said he (Bilic) would be good for next season, hopefully that means he is planning on coming back.

I'm guessing next year we have these from this year's team:

Mirk
Jake
Bilic
Rodgers (hopefully)

Really hope we have the Ivisic boys.
I would also like Lee back, but who knows

Terrence Hill Jr. would be my dream acquisition. I’d also like some roster retention. I think in Andrej’s case we would see a jump in performance from year 1 to year 2. How much retention is financially prudent, in your opinion?

IMO … Mirk is the guy that you absolutely have to have back … You cannot lose him …

Retention is always good … But at what cost ?

I think even if you retain everyone that can come back … You need to bring in a superstar and another really good player (Hill type guy) …

PJ/Terrence would be my 1st choice.

Throw in Morillo/Jalen Cox and that's a top of the conference backcourt.

How much does that leave for a stretch 5 and role players? I'm not sure.

Maybe we make a F4 and that 9 million NIL becomes 12?

Mirk needs to be priority #1. I feel/hope Jake will want to finish his career out at ILL with BU.

Thank you for the response. Agree with you on David. He has to be in a Illini uniform next season. I understand that it won’t come cheap, but I believe strongly in bringing back the core of this team if you can. They clearly have GREAT chemistry and skill. The chemistry component is not easy to find.

I really believe in Andrej and what he would be in year 2 in our program. I am in NO WAY comparing AS to Terrence Shannon Jr. TSJ was an athletic freak and Andrej is not that, BUT in year 1 TSJ at Illinois was a very good player certainly. In that second year he had, arguably, the best season in Illini history. Again, I am not expecting the TSJ jump from Andrej. However, I think we would see significant growth and improvement.

Agree 100% that we HAVE to get more dynamic athletically. That needs to be a priority. Terrence Hill Jr. certainly fits that need.

We keep rolling sevens replacing the whole roster every year, but the day is going to come when that bites us.
I disagree. BU has been successfully because he is willing to adapt his style based on the strengths and weaknesses of his roster. Post up Kofi, launch a lot of 3, booth ball, play fast, pick and roll heavy, now it is use clock and score at will. Similar adjustments have been made on the defensive end.

yep, Brad isn't tied down to anything (beyond busting as$). he's a master of the pivot and more than willing to adapt. winning is paramount, as it should be

It's actually amazing how successful he's been in the portal with this strategy. I would think it's so difficult to build a roster without knowing entirely what play style you'll go with. Even the TSJ year he had the benefit that would probably be it, but even then, the halfcourt offense was totally adjusted to make room for Domask.

Dude can coach. I just sit back and enjoy it. Also seems like a great person, despite how upset people get with being "rude" to a reporter. We're fortunate.

There was a segment either before or during halftime of the UCLA vs UConn game where the crew was talking about the intense/harsh old-school demeanor of the two coaches, Cronin and Hurley, basically not just excusing them of it but actually praising them for it. They even played some clips of them interacting with (read: screaming at) players, officials and media members.

I'd be pretty pissed if we don't bring Mirk back. be little less pissed if he just went back to Europe. be livid if he went to another college. burn the whole place down if went to another big ten school
