Allocating money in the right way is going to be crucial.

Any player on any team could just say, "pay me more or I leave". The End.

If you are Fears camp, or any reasonably good player on any team in America its just,
F*ck your teams culture, f*ck your fans, f*ck your coach, f*ck winning and f*ck the name on the front of the Jersey...I'll take another $800K from another team who I don't care about and then post "100% Committed" on my Instagram.

Not all players are like this but there will be alot.

The transfer portal will just continue to be chaos.

I was offered $800k to take a different job from a competitor, but I stayed, because I didn't want to f*ck my company's culture, f*ck our customers, f*ck my boss, f*ck winning, and f*ck the name of the company on the water bottle they gave me.

See how ridiculous that sounds?

It sure does seem overall we’ve done a good job with money v returns, but that seems to come heavily from finding diamonds in the rough.

I do have concerns the euro market is going to catch up with the state side money. Perhaps our foothold will still give us an upper hand.

I like what we’ve been doing on the freshman and role player front.

I need to see it on the big ticket guys. That hit rate needs to be higher.

Overall, the NIL era has been very very very good to us. BU and this program have easily been a top 15 tandem in that timeframe. Winning on Thursday and potentially Saturday would push our status even higher and hopefully make recruiting easier.

Yea, I have always been impressed with the talent evaluations. They have some misses like everyone, but they have been excellent at finding talent and developing as well.

They may have a pretty bare cupboard at the of the season...I think you just have to start expecting that year by year, but I have confidence that they'll pull it together again. He has a knack for knowing what he wants and going out a finding it, worldwide. I respect that.

I also do think that the money is gonna be outrageous... If you do miss on a player, overspend or it just doesn't work out, its going to become more and more of a burden.

fears would have been suspended by the big ten or any other big ten school if he played for them.
i wore a green and white "kick izzo in the balls" to the first round games.

Illini fans are comical. Fears is a 1st team Big10 all-conference. He'll yeah you take him. He wanted to come to Illinois but Underwood didn't want him because he couldn't shoot. That was definitely a whiff and then his brother committed to Illinois but Underwood didn't want him until 25-26. The Fears family loved Illinois. I agree I would be surprised if Illinois took him because of Izzo but Fears has turned out to be a better player than Boswell, period.

I think the fundamental question we need to ask ourselves about building for the future is are we willing to have weak shooters on the floor and if so to what degree.

Stojakovic, Rodgers, Morillo, Jaxson Davis, Fears, that has implications for all sorts of guys.

There's an argument to be made that 5 plus shooter plus passers is just the Illinois brand now and everything should be focused on that. But that might risk more churn than we want.
