Honest questions isn't there better options we can get now?

Averaged 18/5/5 … 52% FG, 36% from 3, 85% from FT.

Sounds pretty good?

I would be thrilled to have him as our 6th man.

But those numbers & defense indicate to me that a P4 team should be considering him for a starting role. If he's coming off your bench, your team floor is pretty darn high...

PSA

One of these days this guy is going to come back, possibly under a different username, or someone like him is going to come in with the same shtick. Just remember, these people come in to spread negativity, and then disappear when things are good. What kind of a fan posts non-stop to complain about coaching, then is completely MIA when his team makes the Final Four?

Any of the 5 (that are not seniors or going to the draft) that are in the main rotation that want to come back, give them what they want. I love this group. Add 3-4 pieces to complete the rotation and let’s ride.

My first thought was that he might end up back in West Lafayette, but I kinda doubt Purdue would spend the money on him that he’ll command. That seems more like a Kansas State thing.
Wonder what the insiders are hearing..

When Dusty uses back channels and cash to poach key players from teams within his own conference (ala Johnson, Mara, Gayle) he not only feeds his own mouth but he instantly makes his conference opponents weaker. A dirty 2 for 1 if you will. Maybe he thinks that's the only way he can win. Newer version of K. Sampson. Say what you like about Izzo but can't imagine him or Brad or Hoiberg loading up their teams that way (Sanford transferred after his coach resigned).

No defense....
You may be right...but he has the athleticism to play outstanding defense if he wants to play defense and be an EDG. It will be interesting to see
1. If he wants to play at Illinois again with great teammates
2. If he wants to play at Illinois for a few dollars less or if he is seeking the biggest paycheck.

Methinks the probability leans towards door #2. However, he did stick around for two seasons with very little chance for big minutes and no green light which may indicate he likes playing for Brad. His offensive efficiency sure appears to have taken a leap and I am sure he is not less athletic.

It will be interesting to see if the staff kicks the tires...and I sure don't know.

Purdue sure needs backcourt studs with experience...but for one year with a big pricetag? Not their style.

i wonder if depaul would be a good fit for dgl. i don’t know enough about holtmann’s coaching philosophy. maybe wake, ncsu, or one of the mississippi sec schools

I hope DGL gets all the money he can and ends up in a good spot, but don’t want him back in Champaign. Did he make a big leap or are his greatly increased stats because he was at a lower level and took a lot of shots? I think the latter. He took almost 200 more shots than the second leading scorer. Took quite a few more shots than Wagler did with Illini too.

I see what you did with the roster but Jakstys, Lee, Petrovic and even Bilic can all be asked to leave for better transfers. I'm shocked that Illinois wants another high school perimeter player. That would make 4 high school recruits for the 2026 class. Illinois should definitely have the best front court in the country if everybody returns next year. You add two experienced and proven guards then Illinois could be preseason #1 team in the country.
