If there's a Terrence Shannon Jr. out there, I'll take one of those, please.
Taking a moment to just reflect on where we would be right now if the chips didn’t fall where they did and he did not end up in the orange and blue…

love this get. that said, easy on projecting him as a 1&D. I'm sure that's his plan, but for every kid who is a 1&D, there are heaps who aren't

I'm saying this due to the fact that for one, I believe he's underrated at 35. Probably should/will move up more. With his skills and the NBA style offense of Illinois, combined with the S&C+coaching/development he will get....I'm basically saying that is becoming the norm as opposed to what used to be a rarity for the Illini.

Nothing is set in stone, but looking at 26-27:
Portal G (Will spend a lot of money here)
QC
Andrej (Will pivot if he goes, but feel better about him coming back as of now)
Mirkovic
Tomislav

Bench of:
Portal 4 (Humrichous replacement, could see them adding an athlete)
Z
Jake
Euro/Portal add (thinking a 2/3)
Morillo
Ty if he sticks around

Maybe one more developmental/bench add. A lot to play out, but should be an awesome roster again next year.
This would be beyond ideal. This would be amazing.

Have no idea how the staff negotiates a possible Ty return after two years off and our turn regarding offense to spacing and shooting. What will he want or even command on the market?

No. You keep Rodgers for sure. I'm not sure of the impact of injury, but if he comes back with at least the same type of athleticism, he should have mastered this offense by now. This style is now hitting it's stride but remember Rodgers was starting and running the point for a while before he settled into his role as a still ascending sophomore on that Elite 8 team. I'm still very high on Rodgers in this program personally (As I'm sure everyone is rooting for him).

I mean I love Ty but for the most part he just sat in the Dunker spot.

Preseason top 3! And another run at the final 4 with that roster build

They were close on him I remember (Around the time OA came back to Illinois from Kentucky). Maybe not the first year people expected, but listen....put him in the Illini offense with Coleman, Morillo + potential returners...I'd add Luigi also (Arguably my personal top post/players overall)...that's another big deal of a team for the Illini next season.

He was hardly running the point. Sure we technically started him there but it was obvious after a few games that he wasn't the answer there.

Rogers' best work by far was as a beast rebounder and versatile defender.

Best thing for Ty IMO is come back and earn a role …

Saying this lineup thinking Stojakovic is going pro (Not portal, but if he returns to college IMO it's Illinois):

Coleman
Johnson
Rodgers
Mirk
Tomi or Z either or because one is going pro IMO

Petro
Lee
Morillo
J.Davis
Jak
L.Davis
Brown

That is a heck of a team/nucleus as is. Think you need another impact to solid C/post unless both Tomi and Z return. If one or two or are gone/leave, you have 1-3 spots to add even more impact guys.

Is the staff all in on him returning? Obviously, they love him personally. He is a leader and can rebound like no one I've ever seen. I am just curious with the time off, injury recovery, and the lack of shooting if they may not be as bullish on him on the court. Especially when we do so well in the portal. (For the record, I want him to stay)

I'm guessing that Ty has been shooting A LOT. He is surely a better shooter than the last time we saw him.

He started inconsistent initially but was definitely developing into that role quickly. Then he changed roles and did well in that role as a rebounder/defensive threat who can guard 1-4. With his experience pretty sure he has the offense in and out. Jumper more than likely improved (I'm giving the benefit of the doubt). Was already a plus rebounder and post threat due to those rebounds (O and D).

I don't know how serious the injury is but I'm saying I think he'll still be a major contributor with the belief he'll be as good an athlete (If not better due to S&C). I'm keeping Rodgers regardless. You have to keep Illinois loyalty in O&B.

Adding more, Coleman is the the perfect player to come in when Wagler goes in the top 5/10 after a historic freshman year (Hopefully after a NC win). This is how you'd expect a blue blood program to work. Top notch operation in Champaign right now and setting themselves up to be there forever after an already great run of history.

There's some real confidence they can get most if not all of the rotation players outside of Wagler/Ben and Kylan back, we will see. Also, The bench will look better than this and they will get someone a lot better than Johnson to start with Coleman.

I LOVE Drej, but in no world is he playing in the NBA. He'd have to work on his shot and turnovers A LOT. If you mean pro, as in overseas, then perhaps. I think he makes more money in NIL and if he develops at the rate that all of Brad's players do.... he'll have a year to prove it.

He'd be an enormous piece to bring back, along with the bigs. If we lose Drej AND one of the bigs..... we'll have issues.
