Good stuff sir🫡

I'd assume that one player looking for $5 mil is trying to get that oil money?

His camp don’t care where it comes from … They just want the money …

Duke, BYU, St. John’s, Texas Tech, and I’d even throw Auburn in the mix as well …

Louisville is trying to get the money together to make a run as well …

Illinois obviously has a good relationship with Serbian agent Miško Ražnatović because they take care of his clients.

But, he is being a bit difficult.
This was nearly inevitable. If there's any profession where loyalty is a detriment, it's sports agents. He'll muck things up as much as he thinks is necessary to get what he wants for his players and himself. Highest bidder is probably his only concern. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.

Speaking of … If we somehow find ourselves in the big man market …

Hiring Nick Irvin would ensure we get one of the best available …
Seems ominous.

That’s putting it mildly …
Something a savvy, experienced professional agent will have a very clear view of is that EVEN AMONG PLAYERS WHO RETURN TO THEIR SCHOOLS, players who formally enter the portal make more money than players who don't.

We've certainly benefited from the Euro pipeline...how concerned should we be about this?

It’s early in discussions …

Every agent thinks their players are worth double what they are … That’s just how it goes …

If we don’t have things ironed out in a few weeks … I’ll be a little more concerned …

You beat me to it. I just typed out the exact same thing. There's 0% chance that both guys, in their final season, are going to be ok deferring. There is absolutely no way that occurrence happens.

None of us, if we were in Drej or Blackwell, would be ok with that. The NBA is one year away and they, rightfully so, would want to be featured. Keaton was unbelievable last year and a total shock. He became the centerpiece of the roster, while Drej and Boswell had to accept roles. It had to absolutely kill Drej to sit behind Davis in a starting role. He seriously took one for the team and was 100% class in doing so. If you're Brad, you either have to make a promise and reward him for being a stand up guy or be honest and let him walk if you can't make him any guarantees.

The portal requires amazing vision by the staff and full buy in before the season starts and you can only do that through transparency.
I don’t think Drej’s impact this year would have been any greater had he started. You could argue that it could have diminished his impact. NBA scouts don’t care who starts. How many reserve players from blue blood programs get drafted? Guys want an opportunity for PT and impact. I’m just not sure guys want to be featured, whatever that may mean.

Has to be an interesting dynamic having, what, 5 players represented by the same agent. He must know their budgets and what they can pay, but how does he effectively represent all 5 when that likely means one guy is taking money off another guy's plate? Also, the deep relationship can pay dividends for the team, but also puts a lot of eggs in one basket and makes you somewhat reliant on Misko's whim. Reminds me of when we had to choose between AAU squads, and risk pissing the other one off.

Here's hoping the players themselves have voices in where they want to play, if it means possibly taking less than the maximum paycheck in exchange for continuity, joy, friendship, and success. Mirk talked about how this year was the best of his life and helped him grow into his true self, etc. Going anywhere else would seem like a real risk. These guys must talk amongst themselves and their friends at other programs to understand how the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the portal.

That could’ve been the Hoosiers hoisting that trophy last night had they not opted to keep Woody for one more year.
imagine how insufferable they would be if they won Nattys in both sports 3 months apart

Give Blackwell what he's worth, and use everything else $$ wise on retention. Only if someone leaves do you replace via the portal.
How much are you paying for 2 centers who average 8 points 5 rebounds a game?

Tough negotiations as far as the money goes (to be expected after a Final Four run), but that's not the biggest potential deal stopper, IMO.
"Keep Bilic on the roster or Mirk goes!"

I have no knowledge, just hope it's not something dumb like that...

Ooh, I'll guess! Z needs more minutes. Andrej wants a larger role. And Misko maybe even wants Bilic and Petro to remain on the team and have some sort of role going forward. Am I right on any of that?
