Great news excellent pick up. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in practice with all this talent. Come on down your table is set set Mr Blackwell ILL

Seems like the "get old, stay old" thing has gone the way of the dodo. We won't exactly be inexperienced next season, but the staff is obviously fine with recruiting younger dudes in the portal (plus several freshman noobs).

I kinda like the balance we have because of it, in terms of being able to bring guys back even after next season.

Cooley didn't call Illinois a "BS program" until he left for Georgetown. But the point is 100% granted that Providence has taken a pretty big nosedive the last few seasons under Kim English.
Fair enough. English sucks worse. And Cooley’s average at best and a serious A-hole.

I still don’t get the randomness of Cooley’s comment. I assume he was telling Jalen Epps what he thought be wanted to hear; publicly? Preposterous comment for a number of reasons.

Vaaks looks like a high volume 3 point shooter to me but not much else. I think with the amount of 3s point makes IL is losing (Wagler and Ben), this guy definitely helps replace those. I think he looks like a big upgrade over Ben.

Brad said he loves coaching Euros so getting this guy isn’t surprising. He’s already gonna be 21 before next season starts

I wouldn’t hope so since he’s replacing our top 10 draft pick and not Ben.

He’s also a big upgrade over Bilic, but neither his nor Ben’s role will he be taking over.

“Positional” Breakdown

Back Court (7) but normally playing 5 often
Coleman
Morillo
Brown
Vaaks
Blackwell or?
Stojakovic or?
Davis or ?

Front Court (4) but playing 4 often
Mirk
Tomi
Z
JJ or ?

11 total

I only see primarily 1 big needed and maybe a SF, but who wants to be a backup in today’s game?

Thoughts anyone?

I think, in this day and age, the challenge for all coaches is going to be how to play / keep 10+ people involved / happy. To play only 8, numbers 9-15 are going to look to jump ship. There is no way for them to know their time will come as they will constantly be recruited over every year and now it is much easier with the unrestricted portal and euros. If you feel didn’t get a chance to contribute why would you stick around when someone else “wants” you and is willing to pay you. Thoughts?

He’s actually a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
