So the question is who is the big target to replace him, or are we relying on Coleman and Blackwell?

I also assume that Wagler will leave for the Draft, and I'm thinking like you that Ty will enter the transfer portal. Good list, (fellow) Grandpa!

It would seem that we are missing a PF to back up Mirk, or even to play alongside Mirk. Here's a player that I see in the portal that I hope the Illini would look into. It's 6'8", 230-pound sophomore DeSean Goode of Robert Morris. He averaged 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this past season, while shooting 62.9% on FGs, including 57.1% on 3-pointers, and 76.3% on FTs.

Some folks on this site also think that Big Z might go to the NBA Draft, or maybe transfer to a school where he could start next season. IF Zvonimir leaves, I'm intrigued by a certain center in the transfer portal. It's 7'1", 230-pound sophomore center Massamba Diop of Arizona State. Diop averaged 13.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists this past season, and shot 56.9% on FGs (30.8% [only 8 for 26] on 3-pointers) and 71.5% on FTs. The only potentially daunting issue is that his former assistant coach at ASU... Nick Irvin... might now be Diop's handler relative to his transfer.
57% on 3s? Even though I assume it’s on a little amount of attempts, he’d be our best shooter by a mile.

I actually like the two bigs from Colorado. One 6-10 who is a 3/4 and the 7-0 center.

My comment Monday questioned the $$ and the fit …

The first piece … I’m good with …

The second piece … I’m coming around to it as I’m hearing about how Brad wants this roster to look …

Hmm I'm trying to read between the lines but can't figure out if this is an indication that AS is likely back or not (He was mentioned in the fit clause in the Monday post). Oh well I'll just enjoy the ride. If we get Vaaks that seems pretty sweet at first glance. Like that he is still very young but produced as a freshman. Great free throw shooter.

Not sure Illini nation could have dreamed of a better representative of the Illini brand. Humble, smart, incredibly talented, and poised well beyond his years. The best freshmen to ever play for the orange and blue, a legend to be sure.

Keaton, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.

Ball out, KW. Illini nation are your fans for life!

I was just thinking that, does that mean we are losing a valuable piece from last season.

So, we could look like this..
Blackwell
Coleman
Andrej
Mirk
Tomi

Vaaks
Z
Jake
Morillo
Ty- if he wants to enjoy this ride
Lee- wildcard- no hard feelings if you Leave

did I get that right?

Brads only going to play 8 consistently … Always has …

But that top group of 9 … Yeah … That seems about right to me … I’ll let the summer and fall and Brad determine lineup vs. bench …

And boy oh boy … That’s a SQUAD …
