One of the true casualties of the modern era is we so rarely get to see freshmen blossom into sophomore and beyond. Imagine Freshmen Kendall Gill, Luther Head or Warren Carter playing in this modern era. They’d be the bad kind of one-and-done.
@RabidDawgClassic Your check is in the mail for mentioning WC in the same sentence as the other 2.

Andrej
Mirk
Tomi

Z
Jake
Morillo
Ty- if he wants to enjoy this ride
Lee- wildcard- no hard feelings if you Leave

did I get that right?
is there a true pg here or just pg by committee like we usually do?

Brads only going to play 8 consistently … Always has …

But that top group of 9 … Yeah … That seems about right to me …

And boy oh boy … That’s a SQUAD …
Yeah if that happens, a SQUAD indeed. That'd be wild. We'll see on Blackwell I guess.

Only thing, though - We still probably need another big in the mix I'd imagine? Unless the plan is to play a lot more of both Ivisic brothers together this year? If we did have 1 more big that got some minutes, would Jake and Morillo presumably be fighting for the 9th spot?

KW will have the best NBA career of any former Illini, ever.

Better than DWill, Harper, EJ, Nick, Red Kerr… I really believe this.

Maybe it’s not a particularly hot take…? I don’t know. But yeah.

Career points:
13,804 Deron and 6819 assists
12,914 Gill
11,529 Anderson
Ayo's only 3878 but looking like he'll be among the all-timers, and it's early but Will could be a beast. The recent crop of young guns has a lot of potential.

Don't think there have been many Illini in the lottery. Deron was 3rd, Gill was 5th, Meyers was 11th, Nick was taken 11th, so was Derek Harper, and there were a couple guys back in the 70s according to Googlz. Didn't do a ton of research, but KW may be only be behind Deron and Gill.

Early jumpstart on NBA career for sure…correct me if I’m wrong but I believe he’s just the 3rd true one and done Illini after and WR
The NBA didn't allow one and dones until the 2006 draft. Which started our you know what.

Jereme Richmond was technically a one and done but for all the wrong reasons

Your list is 100% correct. Normally, the coaches leave 1 roster spot open. That is the Brad Underwood way (Some of the mid year additions have worked out (Dain Dainja), some not so much (Zach Perrine, Toni Bilic)

14 = is where they are right now with Keaton and Ty still on the roster.

We won't see any additions (transfer portal) until more players leave one of those roster spots officially available.

If you know what the announcements are relating to Ty and Keaton, you are the only one. But officially they haven't been made. I am trying to minimize, not add to the speculation.

I am reading alot of speculation of NIL guarantee = $5mm + NIL incentives that would put Keaton within 20% of guaranteed of the number 5 pick in this year's draft. The numbers are correct, but I don't see Brad being able to write that check, even with the war chest he has which if I calculate correctly is right around $14mm - $15mm before incentives from collectables etc.

So I am not going to speculate. The coaching staff and administration are timing these announcements to gain negotiating leverage. There are also Illinois writers claiming they have spoken to coaches about preference. That is simply not true. Illinois is not about to negotiate against themselves and has never been willing to do so in the past. But please remember, no one had heard of Keaton Wagler last year, Marcus Domask three years ago or Ben Humrichous 2 years ago. Let's just wait an see. The only thing I can assure you is this coaching staff has multiple back - up plans.

If I were in their shoes I would do exactly what they are doing (i.e. waiting as long as they can). I'm certain that isn't popular with this crew, but it is what will optimize the roster for next year.
Well someone paid the monthly subscriptions

Showing my age....Eddie Johnson was was more than a solid NBA player. He could flat our score it. Over 19,000 points in his NBA career and damn near Top 20 in League history when he retired. He doesn't get enough love.

I like the lineup, but feels like we could use a banger down low. Seems like that would give us some versatility in the post.
