What’s our feeling on him then? Do we want him? Fletch special? He’s not Big Ten ready … Not even close …
Let him go somewhere else - transfer here next year when we have minutes for him. It's the new way to recruit. He’s not Big Ten ready … Not even close …
But a big time coach once told him that it takes a few years to really see the fruit of your Final Four Labor in recruiting and wins.
Had a quick moment to do some research... Nunn, Leron and Darius were post Weber... but![]()
Given how many of the quoted incidents were post-Weber I am going to hold out hope that post is parody.

can’t get wrapped up in his stats. I personally don’t see him ever being big ten caliber. Would love for him to prove me wrong tho. He loves a town over from me.He’s not Big Ten ready … Not even close …
Dont think Jason is a B10 caliber impact player or starter. That being said being a potential need as far as roster construction there may be more need for a 6 10 plus big thats 250 lbs this coming year or going forward. We need a 3 deep poward forward and we do not have one. Who is backing up Mirk that could maybe bang even a little with a 6 10 or 11 250lb plus guy? Dont try and sell.me on Jake or Ty coming close to guarding a Cluff, TKR, or banging 4. Afyer Mirk we dont have that and we need someone over 240lbs and 6"9" to back up Mirk down low. I think we need a third good sized 4 after that if not next year but going forward than we do 3 to 5 guys backing up the 2 or 3 spots.10,000%
I feel the same way about Lee. He did not impress me with his minutes and often looked bad against opposing teams’ walk-ons. I just don’t see the hype with him…

Man, your post is pretty anal.
Easily....very hard to think otherwise, with the possible returning players (and solid addition(s)?). I would agree 100% and not drinking any kool-aid.Preseason #1

I agree with everything you stated. However JJ isn’t that guy either. Will have to be a portal body…Dont think Jason is a B10 caliber impact player or starter. Some times you have to be ruthless to win championships. And I would say the same for Ty Rodgers! We would be so lucky to keep both of these guys. Both are leaders.
Dre, Blackwell, and Coleman can all run and we may look for the fast break more frequently. Just wonder if we will have our December offense reset when we have everyone all summer. We had the most efficient offense in the country. We went slow because we were one of the best interior passing and shooting teams Illinois has ever had and we reclaimed 40% of the missed 3pt opportunities. If Tomi, Z, Mirk, Jake, Andre (who will be all by his lonesome on the weakside wing) and Ty all return, I doubt very much there is going to be any difference in pace. The key for us is points per possession at both ends of the floor.
Now it's go play right away at Indiana St for 2 years and then push for a role on a championship team.If he wants to develop for a couple years then push for a role on a championship caliber team …
This is the spot for him …
If he wants to play right away … It ain’t …
When you can transfer an unlimited amount of times, exactly. Go somewhere where you can be a major part of the rotation for a year and if you play well enough and dominate.....the options are endless. Recruiting and portaling doesn't stop just because you stayed. Every off-season, new, expensive, competition is added. Now it's go play right away at Indiana St for 2 years and then push for a role on a championship team.
Well he is 6'10 plus n 245lbs n still a can be redshirt/med freshman going on a third yr. He doesnt need to play unless he must fill a specific need as a 12th or so guy others cant. We gotta get one and Donic it says is 215lbs. While he may do some things well, guarding a power 4 like Payne of Maryland or any mass isnt happenning.I agree with everything you stated. How many of those guys had committable offers? Schutt was probably the only one. Seemed like staff backed off most of them. Definitely Brown, Casey, Taylor. Certa likely never had an offer. Those were pretty much "must get" recruits. How did we survive?
The one in a million exception to that would be Keaton. When you can transfer an unlimited amount of times, exactly. Go somewhere and get 30 minutes of PT today and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
Not a snarky question, truly - but do they just not have to attend class? Asking as someone who had a small class with Sergio in spring 2001 (during the heartbreaking loss to AZ in the elite 8). He didn’t show up a ton, but was still there. If I remember correctly, there are a couple of Illinois-friendly players in LA right now.
