Losing Davis will not make or break us from winning the national championship next year. Hes a role player at best.
He was this year. He was 3rd team. I love Mirk but you do realize Blackwell torched our asses!
Mirkovic is only a freshman. Blackwell is about to be a senior. However, at this point in their careers, Blackwell is better. Way better.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind taking Stojakovic over Mirkovic.

Wrong thread for this but Weber was an excellent coach, nearly got us a NC, come on now.
IDKWTI really messed him up by remaining committed until the very last minute so Weber could not replace him, completely ruined Weber's first class.
Jereme Richmond didn't help because of personal problems - but getting him was considered a real coup at the time, ended up being a complete disaster that probably ruined other recruiting efforts at the time.
He got some great players who just didn't work out for one reason or another and/or they never seemed to gel as a team in any of Weber's post 2005 years. Weber just seemed snake bit for us in many ways. Did OK at KSU and he's very good at TV analysis now, IMO.
OK NOW any new news on Blackwell? LOL

Exactly. He's had 2 years to work on his shot and may be passably good at it by now. Elliot Cadeau certainly improved his 3 point shooting % over his 3 years to date in his college career.

The Bruce thing is so wild. He was an ideologue. He would rather not pay players when everyone else was (including certain Illinois coaches playing the game before him), and I respect him for that, but it didn't work out. There is a reason there is more parity among D1 right now, and that is NIL. I'm not an apologist. He was also poor at roster development and staff configuration. The guy was loyal to a fault and wouldn't get rid of coaches who weren't pulling their weight. It ended up being a perfect storm of trying to recruit in Chicago during an age of extreme corruption, with players who didn't form a coherent roster and a staff that didn't fit the bill. I will never slander that guy. He did something that has not been done for twenty years since, and he did it with class and integrity. He also continues to champion Illinois despite folks bashing him. Fault the AD who hired the guy knowing who he was and what his values were.

Hard to believe we keep all these players. Our 2nd lineup might make the tournament. Can they save us two spots?
Not to belabor the whole past recruiting/coaching thing, but the data on Bruce is pretty clear. He went to another P5 school after IL and repeated, nearly blow for blow, his exact tenure here. He is what he is lol.
