Agreed... I think KW is the best player of the four, but Vaaks and Blackwell are both closer to KW than they are to Bam. I loved Boswell and his attitude through everything, but he kind of struggled. I am sure a lot of it was his injury, but Blackwell is multiple levels above him as a scorer and he isn't a bad defender either..

any chance that a couple donors that could push us over the top are waiting on confirmation of #theretention to contribute to the last piece?

Which makes Louisville potentially an issue. They are trying to spend like Michigan last year.
We just came off of a Final Four. Pretty sure that adds to the pool of what's available. Absolutely zero excuse for being outbid by Louisville for a kid like this. Blackwell is a great player, but no way would he drive a cost north of what we can handle.

Now, if he wants to get out of conference because he'd just assume not have to go into Wisconsin for a game, play them possibly multiple times and get crushed by the fans .....fine, I get that. Some guys don't want to be a part of that. Mara and Morez didn't give a cr@p and they won a national championship. That's just a frame of mind thing.

Vaaks + Blackwell > KW + Bam ?
I think I'd take Blackwell/Vaaks over Wagler/Bam personally.
Absolute howling madness. I don't think you can sum up Denzel Brain any more perfectly than that.

Beyond there being two sides to a basketball floor, KEATON WAGLER IS AN ALL AMERICAN PEOPLE!

How exactly is Blackwell the perfect fit if we lose Sto when they are two completely different types of players and realistically play different positions.
If we lose Stojakovic we are short of go-to perimeter scoring, which is Blackwell's excellent attribute. The two of them do play different positions and could play together, but on our team as currently built the two of them together over-fill some traits and under-fill others.

Well if we end up pivoting from Blackwell we will get someone else good, not worried there. I'm mostly hoping we get #TheRetention announcement asap! (Hopefully tomorrow??)

edit: (I don't think it's necessarily worth overpaying for Blackwell. I think he's good and I'd be thrilled if we got him, but even though we seem to have more funds this year, I would still imagine that Brad and the staff need to be generally responsible stewards of the donors' money over the long term.)

1000% and nothing today has changed my mind about the chances of finishing this recruiting season off positively.

Agree …

Since Indy I’ve been told the same exact thing on this recruitment …

And there have been times in the past where it comes down to money … That ain’t this time … Brad has all the resources needed to make this happen …

McNeil is a great shooter- but he's really exclusively a three point shooter, 80% of his shots are from three. Blackwell just brings a lot more to the table, IMO. But McNeil with Vaaks is a great fit too

Definitely have my preference on who. Agree with ya.

But McNeil reminds me of Kobe Brea… and those guys play

Blackwell......we can somehow, someway make it without......this blow of Super Blackwell reminds me of the old WWF Wrestling promo's. Lotta Hype for the sales price......
