Yeah wasn't he originally suppose to announce yesterday, then we had 4 announce. Wondered if that was because he wanted to not do the same day.

And Vaaks will not have come cheap. He's arguably a more valuable asset than Blackwell given the extra years of eligibility.

I like the idea of giving Lee the surplus guard job. It's that fourth big that's a bit of a head-scratcher. Humrichous was really critical for us in terms of making lineups work.

Who would have thought Ben would go from being the bane of Illini basketball to some last year to being a key cog in the wheels of our rise back to the final four this year.

That tells me the staff is extremely confident in Coleman.

Honestly, the board has been really measured the last few days (comparatively) with the exception of a few randos. Confidence breeds confidence and regardless of what happens from here on out we are in an incredible space.

Along with the small(er)ball option, I expect to see more Twin Tower minutes than we saw this year. Especially if Cam puts them in the defenders lab.

It would be nice to find someone athletic that can play really physical with hops and size, 6'8 or more that can play the 4 or 5 coming off the bench.

Cool. I’m in. Might as well take a shot at someone that you think could develop and see how they look as the year goes. Need another practice body anyway I would think.

Can we finish Andre already so we can have a bunch of booms for the night and stop arguing about whether JJ is gonna play minutes or why we aren’t trying to convince a good athletic big that he should come here for 5 minutes a game when our bigs foul out twice next year

And never get hurt too, catch mono or anything else. I think Ty did whats best for him AND our program. We need a power 4 besides Jason and we have multiple guys they can play the 2/3. Plus 2 or 3 losses can be the difference between a B10 title or being a 1 seed. I dont think he will play but god forbid we have something happen and Jake or Andre are guarding guys like Ried or Payne. I am just discussing roster construction and if you think Blake will ever be needed in a 10 pt game more than a slot for ANY power 4 I disagree. We need someone besudes Z to back up the 4/5 more than several 2s

I’m assuming since the twins are back we aren’t in the mix for Luigi Suigo? He was interesting to me but wouldn’t make sense anymore.

Personally, I would bring in a guard with some experience and bring Coleman off the bench, but whatever…

One of the nice things about retention is players rarely stagnate. Either due to age they improve - like freshmen Mirk to sophomore Mirk - or to more time getting acclimated in the system - like Junior TSJ to Senior TSJ.

With Vaaks already here, and adding Coleman, if the season started tomorrow and Drej was back, I think they'd be better than last year. Now, would i guarantee a final four?

That’s given no returners “stagnate” like Tomi did from year 1 to year 2 and he can regain his 2025 season form or better.

You guys are giving me a hard time and many want Jason to go but not Blake. Who's backing up to 4/5 if Z gets hurt or sick? Blake, Jake or Andre? Z is litweallt us uf Jason camt play. I bet we add a guy for tgar role.
