Werner is saying the roster is likely complete. He is not expecting us to be a player for Blackwell anymore.

Zens is obviously a project, but I love having undefeated, state champion, gatorade POY winners with positional size as projects.

A lot of signs point toward this kid knowing what it takes to win despite any physical limitations. Sign me up.
YUP....seems I remember a guy with physical limitations back in the day. His name was Larry and he became a legend.

Vaaks (30) / Blackwell (5) / Coleman (5)
Blackwell (25) / Coleman (10) / Andrej (5)
Andrej (25) / Davis (15)
Mirk (30) / Morillo (10)
Tomi (25) / Z (15)

(30) Vaaks
(30) Blackwell
(30) Andrej
(30) Mirk
(25) Tomi
(15) Coleman
(15) Davis
(15) Z
(10) Morillo
No disrespect to Jake and his contributions to date- the guy is an intangible monster and sniper from the baselines when open. But Morillo is gonna be too good and too able to get a shot off even if not wide open, unlike Jake. If we do get Blackwell, then I agree with these minutes allocations except I would swap the 15 of Jake for Morillo instead and give 10 minutes to Jake. Sadly, I just don't see any opportunity for Lee to play. If we don't get Blackwell, which is starting to look like more of a possibility, and get O'Neil instead, I can see O'Neil getting 25 minutes/game and Morillo getting 20.

BTW- Brandon's father Butch Lee had a tremendous handle, shake and bake and moxie for his NC Marquette team and the MVP of that game. Was really fun to watch. Wish all the best for Brandon- seems like a good teammate.

I'm gonna guess this Zens commitment puts an end to Illinois' roster construction unless another player or two transfers (Jakstys? Lee?). I was pretty confident that Blackwell would join, but the longer this takes, the less hopeful I am. And seeing as both Vaaks and Coleman haven't signed yet but Zens has, I'm guessing they feel good about the roster as it stands but won't be thrilled to see JB jump on board. JMHO.

Downey and Brody were my back yard hoops teammates as we won the B$G every day with me hitting the winning basket !!!!

they really really were...............
I was 8 years old during the illini Rose bowl season of 83 / 84. Just starting to appreciate football. I would heave a nerf football as high as I could, run and then time it so I could dive and catch it and land in the snow. Always pretended I was David Williams!

I understand taking things with a "gain of salt," but some X user (who supposedly has a "guy") just typed that Illinois is out of the picture.

It was a comment made in the Field of 68 recent preseason rankings thread on X.

ZZ looks and moves like an 18 year old Jake Davis but kid can use both hands and finishes through contact, albeit at the high school level. He also seems to move really well off the ball. I get why Brad likes him. I think he will surprise some folks. If only his name was Zensivic
