In today's NIL world, the fact that Blackwell's Dad played for Illinois meant nothing. He was going to go for the most money and the best chance to win a Championship, with money being most important. He also looked at our roster and figured his minutes might be less than last year. At this point, I don't think we need him to be a great team and he might not have been good for the chemistry this team has. Let's be happy with the the guys we have and not be wishing for guys that didn't want to be here. Go Illini!

Because he wants a chance to win championship...not happening at UCLA or Louisville.
They must have offered the most money.

How many people here were living in town watching these two when they were on WCIA together? Show of hands. 🙌
When I was a kid, I can remember my grandma talking about the weather and she would always say “Well, Mr. Roberts said…” or if there was a storm or some kind of bad weather, she would tell my grandpa he better turn on Mr. Roberts!

The way she referred to him by name, for a long time I thought he was like a personal friend 🤣

Why would an NBA team want him? He was handpicked by Coach K for the Duke job and has mostly underachieved since he's been there.
100% agree, but no one in their right mind would have hired Tony Larussa 9 years after his last gig with a pending DUI and we all saw what happened there..

A Final Four two years ago and a wild prayer going in from Mullins this year from a back to back Final Four is underachieving?

What would his Meets Expectations be?

Yup, just like they were coming into last season...

and Purdue...

and Houston...

etcetera

Way to early to be shouting out Super Teams, imo

Anyway aren't we talking about Todd Golden potentially being the Warriors coach now? If so, Florida gets their very own 30-day portal window

EDIT: Aberdeen isn't a done deal (needs 5th year eligibility) and our roster looks every bit as good as that one does tbh

EDIT 2: They only have like 6 playable guys? And that's if Aberdeen gets another year... they have no recruits coming in... so I'm going to have to ask why Florida looks 'legitimately stacked' unless they're just going to play their top 5 all 40 minutes every game
You're incredibly stubborn to a fault. They lost their top 3 scorers the previous year so its not close to the same. Last year they brought in an elite recruiting class that is all a year older and was waiting their turn. Florida is deep and legit and much more than just 6 players. You're picking the wrong argument. Its ok to be wrong sometimes.

Duke consistently wins, has an unparalleled marketing machine, and pays top $$$. I hate them, but that is what they are. You can nitpick the 'usage' angle all you want, but it's not rocket science
What is your point? All that being said Duke ain't won a National Title since 2015!! 2015 and they have all these resources and #1 recruiting classes all the time.

They're pretty stacked at the moment... I wonder who will bolt?

Boozer already announced his return. Foster will likely be coming off the bench.
Does he actually have eligibility? Usually these tweets say something like “needs a waiver” or “applying for waiver.”
There were mixed messages with Blackwell. It was first said he got cold feet because his agent got in his ear that he wouldn’t get the usage here that he wanted. Then it was said that we’d have a portal/decommit if he came on. I mean who really knows, he went to Duke which should have been the most predictable thing all along anyhow.

Don't know why they would want him but duke fans have thought he would rather go the Brad Stevens route than coaching alone for decades.

So, out of his own mouth, he wants to be ball dominant and threw his old school under the bus while telling the world that. "No knock on "them'....."

That's a 100% knock on them. They brought in Boyd to be that guy.

He was never, ever going to come here and get that assurance. Now, more than ever, I believe that it was going to be Drej of Blackwell and Brad made his choice, which IMO.....was an extremely wise one.
