Slips on my orange tinted sunglasses, kicks back with a good whiskey and just smiles. The dream of the Bulls hiring Malone, leaving North Carolina screwed from mass exodus. North Carolina then hires McCollum which also screws Iowa causing mass exodus. Malone fails miserably and gets fired and in April of 2027 the Bulls hire Dusty May which screws Michigan. Sighs , one can only dream.

Whether or not 5 for 5 hurts us more than it helps us, Kylan would be the perfect fit for this team.

— He played off ball last year, so nothing would change this year. He would played in the same spot and Vaaks would slide into the Keaton spot.

— He would be an additional defensive presence. We can debate whether or not his defense was as good as advertised, but he’d be a top 3 defender for us next year.

— He’d be there for the freshman to help them get up to speed / he’ll help carry the culture forward.

Mingo would be my guess - he's been injured but would be the quick guard to add to our rotation and with a 6'10" wingspan could be that menace on defense we're looking for!
guys it clearly means 5 for 5.

I’m not a doomer— I think we’re going to be in the conversation with Florida and Duke in the championship contention next year…

But… do we want Boswell back? Retention is awesome, he can be really really good, but he also killed us sometimes by taking terrible shots and shooting really poorly. Never played to his strengths and his defense was WAY overhyped. If we get him back I will cheer. If not, I think that is just fine.

When he did that silly reach in during the final four when we finally had some momentum and were getting stops, I almost threw up. And he did crap like that All. The. Time.
We absolutely want Kylan back. He was playing great until he broke his hand. Furthermore, having a 5th year winner showing the young stable of talent work ethic, team ethos, and dedication to winning is a huge plus.

I'm not sure that I am a huge fan of 5-in-5 happening this year

Purdue brings back the big 3
Wilkerson back at Indiana
Burnett, Gayle and Tschetter all back for Michigan
Kohler and Cooper back for Michigan State
Mast, Lawrence and Hoiberg all back for Nebraska
Martinelli back for Northwestern
Thornton, Noel, Johnson, Tilly all could return for Ohio State
Bittle back for Oregon
Bilodeau and Dent back for UCLA
CBM, Dickerson, Ausar and like 3 other guys could come back for USC
Claude, Peterson, Ognacevic, Kepnang could return for Washington
Boyd, Carrington and Rohde back for Wisconsin

I know all of them wouldn't return for another year, but they could...
CBM no, Burnett no, Bittle no.

CBM no, Burnett no, Bittle no.

CBM and Burnett both missed over 1/2 season in 20-21 due to injury
Bittle missed nearly the entire 23-24 season due to injury

Those aren't a hard no yet

Editing to add my reasoning for keeping the door open for these guys is because I don’t think they’ll just tell all current players they don’t get credit for seasons missed due to injury prior to instatement of the new system

Isn’t Burnett like 26 ? Lol …
Which makes it amazing that Boswell is still only 21. I think some forget that he skipped his senior year of high school to play at Arizona -- I believe he was the youngest player in the NCAA that year. At his age, many students would be finishing their junior year.

His situation is much more unique given his younger age than all on that list.

I would absolutely take another year of KB with limited playing time. I do not want 3pt chucker KB back. I would also not want him taking minutes from the freshmen or Vaaks. Call him a role player and let him fill minutes as a sub for any guard. But his return last season from the injury started our downfall and he was limited in the NCAA.

100% agree ... as long as it doesn't cost us any of our top 8/9 players. No, I am not in any way saying Kylan is not better than one of them. I just personally believe we owe it to those who commit here at least one year of commitment in return. Like it or not, burning bridges and upsetting agents, won't lead to sustainable success. IllinoisLOYALTY ! Again I am not saying I wouldn't love to have him back....just hope it would not cost us a commit.

Iowa St, Houston, Arizona all get back guys as good if not clearly better than Hummer & Boswell. Plus we have to endure another year of Smith at Purdue.

Also do we see Morez all over again with Brad playing Ben over Morillo (assuming he doesn't just ask out of his commitment).
Who said Morillo was playing the 4? Morillo is a point guard.

Yeah - he is the same birthyear as Burries from Arizona who was a freshman this year (and projected lottery pick) while Kylan was a senior
It does make you wonder if Kylan didn't reclass etc. if he would have been better off in the eyes of the NBA

Burnett has already played in 5 seasons not including the injury season. There's no way he's getting a 7th year.

Burnett would be the Tommy DeVito situation though, the season he was hurt was a freebie anyway.

Crazy that someone who played in the Covid season is still around.

I like Kylan as much as the next guy… but why settle if the rule goes into effect? That should change everything

Ahh yeah, forgot about the Covid season thing

I find it rather unlikely even half of these guys come back though, I’m just showing the potential for this (minus a couple guys)

It would be a 6th (but 5th with the injury), not 7th

Anyway we are all agreeing how unlikely it is most of those players would actually return, no need to take up 2-3 pages nitpicking a list
