I've been suggesting that Illinois should consider adding transfer 6'9", 245-pound, junior PF David Fuchs (San Francisco) as a possible backup for David Mirkovic. Fuchs averaged 12.7/7.8/1.4 this past season while shooting 51.7/30.3/64.5 for the Dons.

I just read an article stating that Indiana is recruiting transfer 6'9", 250-pound, junior F Junjie Wang (San Francisco) for its roster. Wang averaged 8.5/3.0/0.8 this past season while shooting 42.6/34.2/75.3 for the Dons. I wonder if their fans are questioning why the Hoosiers would want to add a 9th or 10th or worse player to their roster? Or why a player like Wang would come to Indiana just to be an end of the bench player?

I recently read a post on this site stating that Duke's roster is LOADED for next season. (I agree!) That same poster exclaimed something to the effect that Duke's roster "IS 13 PLAYERS DEEP"!!! So, those 13 payers are all part of Duke's loaded roster! Yet we argue here on this site that some posters are silly/crazy/wrong to want or suggest that Illinois consider possibly adding a backup at the PF position for next season. To make such a suggestion is not necessarily a criticism of the top 8 players on the roster (Tomi, Mirk, Andrej, Coleman, Vaaks, Big Z, Jake, Morillo), nor is it necessarily a criticism of the recruiting acumen of Brad and the Illini staff. I'm not sure why so many posters are offended by such suggestions/ideas/opinions.

Not so fast my friend. Several guards have been selected with under 27% from 3. Jalen Johnson being the latest
I'm sure there are some examples, but Jalen Johnson shot 44% (plus he was 6'9" and 220lbs). Anthony Edwards was closer (29.4%), and Stephon Castle (26.7%) was below that, but both were freshman and freakish athletes. Castle also had a lot more assists.

It's tougher to find an upperclassman who's 6'7" or shorter shooting under 27% taken in the first round unless they have exceptional traits or other contributions.

Somehow I was reading about Dennis Johnson stats who played back in my day who was a very poor 3 point shooter who got drafted. My bad

Have now seen two "Too Early" Top 25's with a starting lineup of Coleman/Vaaks/Andre/Mirk/Tomi, and another with a lineup of Vaaks/Andre/Mirk/Z/Tomi. As has been mentioned, not sure it matters who has the P and who has the S before their G, but I have a hard time imagining Brad would start Tomi, Mirk and Z, given the need for someone to sub in at some point.

He wouldn't start those three together unless we had multiple injuries at the 1-3 positions.

Have heard our last add is expected to be a European. As said before, my expectation is sometime over the summer. If 5/5 passes, the door will open for Kylan as well, but we will see.
Hopefully this leads to a positive add.

Depth is a real weakness as things current stand. Saying that it isn’t is just sugarcoating things.

I think you missed my joke….
If you don't add the "S" somebody always misses it. Even when you know that it won't happen.

Feel like Ty Rodgers would've been quite helpful, as the roster currently stands.

Would've played a lot -- him or Davis for first perimeter player off the bench. Can plug a multitude of gaps, 1-4.

Would provide quality defense and ball handling. At worst, gives us another reliable/playable veteran (and valuable leadership).

I'd take him back in a heartbeat (if it were a choice).

If any of this were the case, he’d still be here. Time to let the dream go.
