If I remember correctly (which is, at best, a crapshoot), it seems that the insiders (or maybe just Indy?) were indicationg that Illinois was going to add a European player this summer (I think it was mentioned specifically June). If Lincoln Williams commits, does that mean no European?

You beat me to it. Wisconsin is the same way.

Wasn't it Eddie Johnson, during the Final Four, who made a point that we need to transfer our success into keeping the top kids(especially the CPL kids) home?

I get his sentiment, but the top player in 2026 looks like he'd be locked in the highly touted battle for the coveted 9th man position. Plenty of competition there.

I think how the NIL works right now it makes sense.

You fill out your roster with development pieces who don’t cost money and see if of the 3-4 of them 1-2 become helpful. If not, they leave after a year and go down a level.

Think it’s also helpful to finish the roster with guys who can make practice bigger/efficient vs 3-4 walk ons.

Practices are going to be a dog fight this year. Not only to try to get into the top 9 for this year's rotation -- realistically barring injury only one of the frosh other than Coleman/Morillo will have a chance for such minutes -- but also for the younger guys to jockey for position for 2027-28 team minutes.

Put me down for guys like Lincoln Williams. All-State as a soph tells me he is not afraid to work hard and has a high motor...not to mention some really valuable skills with a big desire to win.

It would appear that not too much effort needs to go into backcourt recruiting next year...but retention sure will require some effort BU can scour the earth for quick, athletic, skilled bigs now as the Illini will likely lose them all other than JJ. But with QC, Brown, Vaaks, Morillo, and Williams returning (if all goes well) and adding Kitt, that will be a solid group of guards upon which to build. The blessing is that the EDG culture carries on.

I like the upside of zens and brown, but Williams is tailor made for limited minutes on next years squad. Still has to earn it and be willing to accept that role.

It's weird that we have the #1 recruit from the state of Wisconsin, the #1 recruit from the state of Illinois and the #1 recruit from the state of Missouri for 2026 and only one has really garnered any national attention.

The good news is that our brand has blown WAY past relying on our state to keep the train on the tracks.
