I know the oh boy is sarcasm but it kind of makes sense to target prep wings.

Bigs take the longest to develop and tend to stay in school longer than wings(if you're 6'7-6'8, athletic, and can shoot you are going to the NBA).

You have a much better chance of getting vet bigs in the portal than you do you adding an athletic wing that can shoot.

I'm sure they will add bigs at some point but I would expect them to be targeting upper classman to replace the twins when they leave instead of going expecting freshman bigs to fill the role(Kofi was nearly a unicorn tbh).

The spelling of "ILLIDIE HARD" was intentional. And still haven't had one response about my post other than evidently no one has clue!
Do you realize that no one on this board had Vaaks or Coleman on their radar at this point last year and now they’re leading our back court? Ipso facto, we’ll probably have a really good big or 2 ready to take over for T & Z at this point next year.

I still haven't heard or read from any sources about getting some big boys. Can't do it with guards and SF's,I guess I'm getting nervous for the future!🤔

Watched him for Team USA along with QC. He was by far the best big.

Very good shooter for a big guy.
Let's take him and the sooner the better.

Man can’t wait to see how season progresses.

If Vaaks or Coleman start getting mocked in the mid-to-late first round, I think our ability to move that $$ over to Brady shoots up. So we could see a commitment in the Spring when the draft boards solidify.

The top 10 picks outside Morez was pretty much set by late winter this year.

If Vaaks is projected mid-to-late first round, I think he leaves.

He's older this season than Boswell was, last year. If he comes back another year, his age will start to hurt him in terms of draft stock.

Now, if he isn't QUITE as good, then it would make sense to come back for a huge payday.

.....

Since he is older, there's probably an urgency there to have a great year.

A year 2 QC plus freshman Brady would be a fun backcourt. I’m really hoping Vaaks shows out this year. He looked good on Providence and his national team. Now give him 4 dynamic starters to play alongside and he may legit shoot high 30s from 3 on 6-7 attempts a game. That alone will get him on draft boards. And pair that with the elite processing that Tyler will imbue within him - he gawn.

I think we rotate usage between him and Mirk. Mirk and Tomi setting picks for Vaaks with Andrej cutting and QC lurking in corners / grabbing weak side ORebs. When that machine is flowing you legit have 5 guys that can get you a bucket depending on which poison the defense picks. And if we can once again get 40% of our misses back, you should end up having more possessions than most opponents. At which point they would have to shoot a higher % (against the tallest team in the nation) or generate more TOs to balance the advantage scales.

Exciting times ahead. 3 months away from the exhibition game(s).

Mason is automatic.

Guaranteed money from every which angle. Smooth and consistently repeated release form. Major upgrade on Jake Davis. Already looks more athletic. If he can incorporate a little jab step side dribble into an off the dribble 3, will really open up the lane / stretch the defense.

Keaton height so can fake the 3 into some nice assists as well as he learns our offense.

126th composite player. Hasn't played a game in college, but is a major upgrade over a dude that started 22 games, had 62.5 ts% and had 2.7 WS on a ff team..?

Excited for Martin. And yeah, Jake Davis is not the greatest Illini ever, but man folks need to put some respect on a great complimentary player that does the things we need to W.
