Could apply to Andrej too but I think he’s ready to test the NBA Exhibit-10 and non-guaranteed two ways after this seasons. Felt like he was almost gone this year.
ILL can pay him A TON more.
Probably gonna be a 6mil check waiting for him, just to be one of the best players in the country and a program legend.
Compared to the G league where virtually nobody cares about you (and you get paid far less).
Maybe I am confused. Are you saying Illinois would pay Andrej $6,000,000? I don't think so.
For Andrej next season? I think 5 million would be very reasonable.
Could definitely see it getting to 6.

I agree that Andrej likely wants to go pro.
Im kind of curious though with the new rule. I believe everyone on the roster except the twins could technically come back next year.
I think it's really stupid that all these guys that played in the summer league are getting eligibility through lawsuits and I wish some superior court ruling would just strike them all down.
However, if Keyshawn Hall is going to play in college next year, does anyone have a spare 5-6 million to ensure he is playing for Illinois?
If you somehow added Hall to the current roster I don't think the question is if Illinois can win a national title but whether they can go undefeated. Vaaks, Stojakovic, Hall, Mirk, Tomislav with Coleman and Zvonimir as your top two off the bench would steamroll the big10.

It's a lovely thought but it's just not that simple
If a bunch of these guys are going to play it would be short-sighted to not do your due diligence and kick the tires because it's a legitimate problem if some of these guys were to go play at Florida, Duke(don't think they need anymore talent), UConn, Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan state, or even Arkansas.
Honestly even Kentucky with another big becomes a lot more dangerous.
For example if Michigan was sniffing around Keyshawn Hall, going to the donors for one last piece could also be sold as not only adding a blue chip talent but also keeping one away from a contender when there are limited options left.
Also, it would just be equivalent to one of Duke or Kentucky's many rosters that failed to "steamroll the conference" or "go undefeated". I also think there's some merit to "too many cooks in the kitchen" type of issues if we added another star. Felt the same about adding Blackwell (though we now know Andrej likely wouldn't have returned if he came here).
Yup. Even if you added him to our team, we wouldn't have the aggregate talent that a lot of Duke teams (and Kentucky a decade ago) have had. Elite talent coming off the bench is nice in theory, but it also has the potential to mess things up.
OTOH, keeping them away from a competitor only sounds somewhat crazy. Maybe that's why Duke loads up the way they do, even if they know some absolute beast players might not play a lot.
Feels like this is more of a basketball-fit assumption, than it is factual.
From what I remember, it was said to be a Duke and Illinois race. But when the visits came out, Illinois wasn’t on it.
Something happened - or perhaps the staff felt we’d have too much talent - that made us back out.
