Brad is killing it. Sign with Illini or lose your seat on the FF train. Our offense and boy by fletch get your ready for NBA.

Ask Ayo, TSJ, Will, KJ, or Keaton.

So it’s Illinois, Arizona, Texas, or Indiana based on his visits.
He’s going to Arizona next weekend I believe. Doubt he waits that long for the UT visit.

Commitment probably coming soon. Crystal ball would have to be Arizona at the moment. He’s from Phoenix. Arizona has had some great big men recently like Koa Peat and Krivas. Program also has the $$$ (see Caleb Holt, Burries, Peat, etc.).

Nor was Florida. Golden built that team on transfers and a couple of unknown bigs (Haugh & Condon). That Houston team they beat was built on retention and transfers.

Clingan for all sakes and purposes was a missed 5 star. He had a top 10 efficiency his freshman season, was second behind Edey as a sophomore.

The Burger Boy template isn't it. I think you want 1-2 top freshman max. The exception is when you land that one all world kid (Flagg, Boozer, JBB, AJD). We are unlikely to ever land one of those. What Brad is doing now is working.
Honestly I don't even think Boozer was enough to get it done in March.

Flagg could have got it done but I think it was because he was paired with two other fantastic freshman and they all complimented each other extremely well. Knueppel was obviously a stud but people sleep on how good Malauch was that year especially defensively/rim protection.

I would expect us to be hard to beat similarly for Brady Pettigrew.

Boozer alone no, but he had a sophomore Center, sophomore SG, junior PG. That Duke team stifled Michigan. It wasn't built to make a dominant run, but had enough to win it all. It was put in a tough, tough region. If they stayed healthy, was right there with Michigan.

I argue both teams were one top notch portal PG away from winning it.

Boozer had a better season than Flagg (yes, both were very good).

Duke & UConn are in their own class at the moment, and that likely will not change up until Hurley or Scheyer leave for the NBA. It's going to take another program working themselves in. Dusty would have been there had he stuck as he built a ton of equity fast and had a unique template that was receiving buy in.

Zona has an advantage as being the top West Coast program, so has a regional advantage. Burries & Peat & Wabbington apply. Once one of these top programs sends a OAD to the league, they then have a natural seed to keep the wheels in motion as new opening sprouts for the next OAD.

Hurley's template since that 24 team has been to grab one burger boy annually: Castle, McNeely, Mullins, Landrew represents that this year, Bowman. Don't sleep on Landrew, he was the second best player on the U18 team next to Coleman and built like a truck (looked a little unconditioned). He actually has two on his roster this year in Mullin's and Khamenia, both generally movement shooters. His system is one where not reliant on top freshmen and isn't one to feature/showcase with a lot of iso, so not sure if he'll ever subscribe to it. He is going after a SF to go with Bowman this year, so he may be beefing up on 5*. I don't see him as a guy that is going to stack them like Scheyer and Calipari, he seems to wisely diversify his portfolio with retention, frosh, transfers and euros.

Hurley pulled one of the more fascinating recruiting strategies this year. He has 5 of the top 5* shooting forwards coming in consecutive weekends, in order. They seem to be gunning hard for Henry, another son of a football dad along with Bowman.

Scheyer and Duke have such an aura of exclusivity, and NIL, so somehow are able to get a Cam William's while also getting a JBB. What other program could get two top 10 kids at the exact same position? I HAVE to think Cam William's is annoyed by it and wonder if at some point, these moves catch up with Scheyer. They're recruiting Beckham Black this year while they have 3 point guards on their roster.

I'm finding there to be some natural tension brewing between Duke/UConn, as they recognize themselves in their own class. Hurley is playing into it, has arrogantly stated multiple times that UConn/Duke are the top programs right now. Scheyer doesn't want to acknowledge it/them, almost purposely. He did a recent interview with Rothstein where he was asked how many times he watched the Mullins shot, and stoically answered once recently. We all know that is totally BS. Rather than say UConn made a great play, he's actually said they effed up, should have fouled. Also saw an convo between Battier and Scheyer around recovering from loss like that, and their 99 loss to UConn was brought up. Some good old bad blood going on there, which is fun in sports.

That Duke/UConn game is going to be must watch as not only is there a heated rivalry brewing, Hurley grabbed Khamenia

For us to get in the mix, we need to beat those two bozos and will have our chance this OOC. Up till then, will play little brother.
I don't see AZ becoming a blue blood. Its nothing but hot there and nothing else really going on. I know a lot of people are going to say but its a dry heat, that doesn't matter. I've been there and when its 100 degrees or more its the same as any where else. Which they average 111 days a year. After 10 steps out in it you are going to start sweating your !!! off no matter what shape you are in. Now if Lloyd ever took a job at UCLA or USC watch out.

I'm so grateful that the angry garden gnome and MUSCLEman will stunt theose programs for the forseeable future. Just be good enough to make the tourney but not good enough to be a true contender.

I imagine a lot of social media is just driving clout for one another. But it's great to see Darius and Brady interacting on some level.

Complicated game of networking, selling the role, and NIL, etc.

Credit to Indiana. Seems their followers lot more active on the basketball socials.

Some kids want to go away to school. He will get excellent $NIL anywhere. Phoenix to Tuscon is like Chicago to Champaign. (OK maybe a little closer). The Chicago connections has not done anything for us since the Flying Illini. See Derek Rose, Jon Scheyer, Anthony Davis, Okafor, Jabari Parker, Antoine Walker, Kevin Garnett, Cliff Alexander, Sherron Collins Julian Wright.

I think we have a decent chance. Every game is on TV everywhere. He played with Quentin Coleman at FIBA U18. I am sure Quentin was in his ear.

What an awesome weekend getting these 5-star guys on campus together. The football stadium looks sick with the massive scoreboard. And as Ayo said during his HoF induction weekend vlog we have some of the best basketball facilities in the country.

I think coinciding Wabbington, Kamissoko, Betts, and Lusakueno was a genius move to create some groundswell. Outside of Duke and UConn (in alignment with the Sleeper boys power rankings), no other program is riding this much financial and notoriety momentum at the moment.

Dybantsa's "aaat Purdue," Keaton's lotto selection and the orange takeover in Indy were the moments that caught national attention. But it's clear 6'10+ guys are realizing the importance of playing like a Wemby or Chet to make a bag in the NBA. And the spacing with which the Illini play lends itself to that pro style of ball that the Celtics and more recently the Thunder perfected. You'll still have guys like Morez and Mara with limited outside game get drafted high purely on their insane physical measureables. But for a guy like Wabbington lacking plus athleticism, the fit and development at Illinois is superior to Arizona (based on Peat, Awaka, and Krivas' development as pro prospects).

Anyway exciting times having all these guys come through. This might be the most important season in Brad's tenure given the preseason expectations and insane program momentum. NIL is only going to escalate year by year. We need fans and donors to be all-in on the program. We need the sellouts in Chicago and Nashville. We need the TV ratings. This hopefully continues to open the floodgates on $$$ flying into the program.

(I'd love to see another trip to at least the Elite 8 and a lottery pick in Quentin Coleman.)

It is pretty cool seeing Brad have the program firmly on the 5* road map. I wonder what these guys are thinking when they come in surrounded by euros, lol.

I believe Moussa is going to UConn next, where the word is they have so many trophies there they use them as doorstops. I haven't heard a thing on where he's leaning, but On3 just released their new rankings and he's #7.

Are you a UConn fan on an illini site? Seriously all I've seen you do is hold UConn up since I've been reading today... This post is suspect and over the top holding em. 🤔🤔🤷🏾🤷🏾

I haven’t been on here for a while. Has this site lost the 4-5 insiders who used to post frequently? Especially around times like these visits.
