If we're talking Champaign music, as well, not limited to Illini stuff, I'll put forth Pork and the Havana Ducks. Good rock-a-billy!

Lookin' Out My Backdoor

Just got home from Illinois . . .

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singin',

CHORUS:
Doo, doo, doo, Lookin' out my back door.

There's a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin' high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A dinosaur Victrola list'ning to Buck Owens.

CHORUS

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Wond'rous apparition provided by magician.

CHORUS

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I'll buy no sorrows.

CHORUS

Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I'll buy no sorrows.

Doo, doo, doo, Lookin' out my back door.

My Kind of Town

Northwestern may be Evanston's Big Ten team, but Chicago is an Illini kind of town.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but any meaningful music collection has to include Paul Simon's rendition of "The Boxer" on the first Saturday Night Live after the attacks of September 11:

I vividly remember watching this with tears streaming down my face. We were all Americans, plain and simple, as we tried to regain our balance as a nation in those dark days. God bless the United States of America, now and forever.

Along those same lines:

All good things come to those that wait . . .

That...was awesome!!!

So me and my buddies go to the Tunafish concert in, what, '79, maybe '80. Go back to the house and one of my buddies says, "Let's go to the Red Lion for a few, after all, it's where the boys started..." Tuesday night, we walk over there.

Not an hour later, in walks Gary Richrath and Kevin Cronin...never forget that!!!

This band is getting ready to blow up. Love the lead singers voice.

Ryan Bingham's music reminds me of real country music. He has a raspy voice. One of the better music artists today.

Ryan Bingham is just incredible. Not many better singer-songwriters out there. He's recording a new album right now too!
