If we could increase football NIL by $10M-$15M, I'd feel better about this agreement.

Not sure it will be that much but it will be a lot. They are really trying to monetize this series.

>>After selling out of season tickets each of the last two seasons, Illinois has launched its 2027 season ticket waiting list. Fans looking for the best chance at purchasing new 2027 season tickets need to join the I FUND to secure the best possible place in line. The only way for fans to guarantee 2028 season tickets, which include the Notre Dame game in Champaign, is to purchase 2027 season tickets. <<

Apparently they're want to ramp up NIL(Edit, I mean I-Fund) as well. They better.

I think it is safe to say that this will be one of the most anticipated non-conference home game in decades.

I get why some would rather have an easier p5 team, but this has me excited.

I would have never guessed this would ever happen in regular season . There was a long time from 1970’s - 2010’s that I was told they wanted nothing to do with us . not sure why

I find the fear in this thread very sad. If Notre Dame wants to play you, you play them. You've got to beat the man, etc.

If you wanna be the best, you have to beat the best, or something like that.

The 2027 schedule is going to be very tough. Unless we plan on spending a lot more we will have a hard time getting to 6 wins.

I've always found it crazy that we don't play ND at least every once in a while. They own the series (11-0-1 per google) and we haven't played them since 1968, which was 58 years ago...I'd be shocked if half the people here were alive then and doubt the majority of those that were would have been old enough to remember.

Bummer re: Missouri

I think the reason is mostly that ND has always wanted to play a pretty national schedule, and we are behind a number of others (Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State primarily, they've played Northwestern quite a bit, etc) on their priority list of local opponents.

We also tended to play Pac-10 teams as marquee non-con opponents historically.

It sure looks like it as of today. However, there is so much that will transpire before kickoff next season. Going into this season, nobody expected November to look as difficult as it currently does.

Next season could go anywhere from 3-9 to 10-2. I think it puts pressure on to hit the portal hard this offseason and get major NIL investments. We get the NIL in good shape, what recruit wouldn't want to play in all of these big games and a great coach?

From a first glance, getting to bowl eligibility would be a good year, but there is a lot to happen in the coming months.

I'm so excited about this. I went to ND for 4 years for my PhD work. I have never been an away fan at an ND game but I'll be in orange that weekend. I might wear ND to Champaign the next year though just to get the full away fan experience.

Never thought I'd run into a situation where we would play each other.
