Highly doubt we're ranked since that ole miss game likely will dictate the minds of voters. and we were only 26, other teams have had impressive wins, and only UCLA lost within our range. It's kind of a throw up situation from there.

Ohia deserves to be ranked, so if we get in, then we probably knock out someone who did nothing to deserve it.

Would love to be ranked going into the week playing Bama so hopefully some teams ahead of lose so we can see a number next to us next week playing Bama

If Illinois wins on Wednesday handily, it is a near guarantee to be ranked next week in the AP poll, barring a major upset win from a team below us.

Ohio State and Texas A&M play Friday night. The loser of that game likely drops out of top 25.

On bright side, Illinois is #20 in coaches poll (a jump of 4 spots from last week). https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/basketball/ncaab/coaches-poll/2024-2025/2024-11-11

A&M should not be ranked... not sure how St Johns jumps all the way to 22.

KY should lose to Duke though, among other games... we'll have a shot next week.

Don’t the writers always have an Illini hater or two that wrecks our chances? Is that guy that refused to rank us at all last year still voting?

As I have watched a lot of basketball this weekend and really there are just a way smaller number of 25 teams better than this long rapid shooting team we have in Champaign with no glasses of orange and blue Kool aid...

but what about Indiana's worse performance vs the same exact cupcakes...?
They shouldn't be ranked either. In the end, what the polls say right now won't matter at all. No one will remember anything about who's ranked in early November. Hopefully the current rankings will give the clown pants the swollen heads they need to tank and us the edge we will need to slay the goliaths we have on our upcoming slate.

FWIW, we play one game this week - Oakland at home. Meanwhile, the following teams in the upper part of the top 25 are all in action:

Grambling at #21 Florida (remember that Grambling gave Ole Miss quite the scare)
#6 Duke vs. #19 Kentucky in Atlanta, GA (UK highly likely to drop out with a loss, but you never know if it gets really embarrassing...)
#20 Florida at Florida State (UF definitely drops out with two losses but might even drop out if they lose handily at FSU)
#21 Ohio State at #24 Texas A&M (while most now think OSU is the real deal, A&M will absolutely drop out if they lose this one at home)
New Mexico at #22 St. John's (remember that New Mexico has already knocked off a ranked UCLA team)

And there is always the possibility that some ranked team stubs its toe in a gimme game. We are (once again) the first team out. If we take care of business this week, I think there is a high likelihood that we are ranked when we take on 'Bama.

It’s hard to argue we should be ranked ahead of Ole Miss when they blew us out albeit an exhibition

Comparing double digit victory margins against overmatched teams in the two common opponents with Indiana is a fools errand. We looked better against those two but when you are clearly better than the other team it doesn’t really matter. Indiana didn’t step on the throttle as much as we did, but that doesn’t mean we’re better

I don’t mind not being ranked - we are doing to play an incredibly challenging schedule - we will have our opportunities to be ranked if we win games
