I'm in the very early planning stages for next year's game with Northwestern. Want to take my dad to a game, it's been 25 yrs or so since we've gone due to me moving all over the damn place. Have some logistical questions. One thought I've had is taking the South Shore from South Bend to Millenium Station. Does the El have a line from Millenium Station to Evanston?( I haven't been to Chicago in quite some time) If not, how long realistically would it take to drive from Millenium to Evanston? I'd like to avoid driving if possible considering it'll be Thanksgiving Weekend. However, I'm open to suggestions. More than likely I'll end up driving the while way, but wanted to explore other options. Also, as I haven't been to any sporting events in a hot minute, anyone know how stadiums handle portable oxygen generators?

Not sure how much help I’ll be because it’s been some years since my last jaunt that way, but I lived near the hegwisch south shore station for reference and I drove up there. Traffic wasn’t bad. Parking wasn’t bad.
Maybe the metra goes that way as well.
You can take the Purple Line to Central Street in Evanston. Should drop you off a few blocks from Ryan Field and there’s places to eat/drink on Central.
Only think I’m not certain of is whether the Purple Line runs on weekends but you should be able to look that up before you go.
Orherwise, the Metra Union Pacific North Line also has a stop on Central. Leaves from Ogilvy.
Pro tip on that one…UPN has like 3 Evanston stops. Be sure to get off on Central, which I believe is the third one.

You have to walk 3-4 blocks from the Millennium Station over to State & Lake and then you can take the El all the way up to Evanston (Red line until it ends at Howard and then switch there to the Purple line up to Evanston Hospital.) From there it's a 10-min walk over to the stadium. The El portion of that takes around an hour.
