Let’s all relax. IU was playing for their season, we were playing for seeding which doesn’t matter as much this year as others because the separation between the 1 and 2 seeds isnt as big as it is normally. With how inconsistent this team is, playing badly now is much preferred over playing bad in the real thing. We’re gonna be a team that people don’t want to see in their bracket. Get Grandison back, shoot free throws, get the team more acclimated to Curbelo and his bs, and get hot from 3 again and we can certainly make a run. Just have to bring the intensity every game. Didn‘t think there was ever a shot this team would be able to win it all, but we can still have a month to remember! Go Illini.

No one likes a loss, but as others have said, I think this team could use the extra time to get healthy and get focused.
We just had 4 days of rest and practice before we laid this egg today. Don't think our problems have anything to do with a lack of rest.

Oh well at least we are still co Big Ten champs and get some extra rest before the Big Dance. But we better make it count and get our **** together because I do NOT want us to go out like we did last season. F THAT! Lets go IllinI!:chief::shield::illinois:

I like the fact that nowadays it's not if we'll raise a banner at the end of the season... But how many?

Last year after the B10 tourney we looked set. We were hitting on all cylinders and playing at our best level which we had maintained for the last third of the season. A number 1 seed, number 2 overall. We couldn't have had things going any better than that going into the Tourney. Well we all saw how that ended. I for one are comfortable with this team and let the chips fall where they may.

Sugar Grove
Who was the last team that actually lost the first game of there own conference tourney and won NCAA championship?
Does not look like that has ever happened.

Have a feeling this year could be different...

We were actually number 3 overall, but details.

You are my gif hero if you can post a clip of that forward bounce-pass from Belo to Coleman at about the 5:30 mark of the second half. I think they had a replay from a different angle that showed how crazy the window was. A foul ‘fouled up’ the perfect finish, but the pass was a masterpiece of artistic beauty…

So much changes if Belo makes that layup. "They found a way to win." But they didn't. How many missed dunks did we have? Ugh. I'm concerned about our offensive confidence. Seems half our team doesn't have it. We needed DMW and Trent to take their shots, but they didn't. Hawkins and Kofi showed up, but can't do it alone. Whatever happened to Verdonk? Also, if Belo learns how to shoot this off-season he will be such a bigger threat. This team will be loved forever by Illini nation if they make it to sweet 16.

BU's postgame interview parting words were that he was looking forward to playing someone other than a Big Ten team.

[No team has ever won the ncaa tourney that lost the first game of it's own conference tourney.]

So we're an inch away from winning that game, and we're supposed to take that statistic to heart? I don't think so.

I wonder if a starting 5 of Kofi, Jake, CoHawk, Plummer and Trent would work?
This should be a frequently used lineup, but it rarely has been used (Curbelo out, Hawkins in dog house). This should be a good rebounding lineup that’s not undersized, has a slasher in Hawkins, three shooters and Kofi. Would be very hard for teams to stop. No disrespect to Damonte but this should be a go to lineup. Sub RJ for Plummer for more defense and rebounding and sub Curbelo for Trent/Plummer for more playmaking.
